    Quick AC question

I'd say CON only, with that wording. Compare Dragon Sorcerer. Stone Sorcerer sounds like that AC = 13 + CON has kinda heavy armor effect.

    D&D 5E (2014) High Level Shopping

Have a look at Terry Pratchett's discworld: Gold is very special and no everyday currency, and if some gold appears, everyone's after it. :D

    Wizard vs. Sorcerer

After having read how memorizing spells now works for wizards, I thought "who needs sorcerers"? But heck, then I saw my son play one... So I have seen both in play, an evoker wizard (up to level 10), and a dragon sorcerer (up to level 12). Wizard: more utility, due to simply more spells...

Choose One Cantrip You'd Like In Real Life

What a useless thread... But greatly entertaining! :D Spare the Dying, hmmm... dead or stable after 3 to 6 death saves, means you have to be there within 12 seconds. That will not happen often. But if - priceless. Mage Hand, great. I like Druidcraft, perfect 24 hour weather forecast? Cool...

    Half-orc Paladin MC

I'm currently playing a halforc paladin, level 10 now. Great defenses, hard to kill, fun to play. I really would like to multiclass, but since I'm shortly before level 11 (Improved Divine Smite), and then level 12 (another ASI)... I just can't... So I recommend to MC at paladin level 6...

    D&D 5E (2014) Round out our group!

    That looks pretty solid!

To Kill or Not to Kill?

To the original post: I think your solution was nice, but in a good way. The player survived, but paid for it. On the other hand, it would have been perfectly okay to have the ranger killed, because he did too many mistakes: - Why go alone? NEVER split the party! - Why not kill the orog...

D&D 5E (2014) Low Level Wizards Really Do Suck in 5E

Has there ever been an edition of D&D where the wizard did NOT suck, at least until level "fireball"? :D I've played all editions since AD&D, liked them all - except 4e (in which the only good stuff -IMO- was the higher starting hitpoints, especially for wizards). But come on, in all previous...

D&D 5E (2014) Curse of Strahd: Hexblade, Paladin or Both?

For tanking I'd start as paladin with high CON & CHA, switch to hexblade for 1 level, then back to paladin until level 6, for extra attack and CHA to saves. Paladin with heavy armor + shield + dueling + one-handed pact weapon, damage boost with smites. Edit: too slow, I support all that TwoSix...

    D&D 5E (2014) Kids playing dnd?

I started playing Pathfinder (full core rules) with my kids when they were 11 (son) / 8 (daughter), with 2 friends of them the same age. The big boys really gripped it fast, but they are both rather talented in the math & logic division. We switched to 5e about 4 years ago, I really prefer 5e -...

How often do your players multiclass?

Not many in my campaigns I have played and DMed (not damned! ;) ). Only 2 of 12 PCs I think, one of them really successfully (hexblade 5 / battlemaster 5, in ToA). I'd like to MC as a player, although in 5e many PC features can be achieved by choosing the right: - background - archetype - feat...

"How do I beat the Matt Mercer effect?"

Funny! A friend of mine - I played AD&D with him about 25 years ago, then he moved away, now we're living close together again - watched the Mercer videos and really enjoyed it. I didn't have the time... We started playing D&D again, and knowing the game he never complained about my DMing style...

D&D 5E (2014) How to run a criminal organization in a City with 8th level spells?

You are right, there are definitely problems verbally dodging in a zone of truth if the interrogators are "not so nice". On the other hand: torture is (in most opinions) considered evil. Evil is prone to corruption. Thus, if the city have evil guys among them for the dirty work, I'd say...

D&D 5E (2014) How to run a criminal organization in a City with 8th level spells?

I just read the spell description of zone of truth. C'mon, every politician can talk for 10 minutes without neither telling truth nor lies. (I'm often listening to a (for germany typically liberal) news radio station, there is almost never a clear yes or no from a politician to any question...

D&D 5E (2014) Lets design a Warlord for 5th edition... using only preexisting classes

valor bard / battlemaster fighter Choose the right spells and make them fluff-wise "un-magic" (if needed). Heroism is a short command like "you can go on". Vicious Mockery is some military scolding of the enemy. Hypnotical Pattern is some bad "stand-and-deliver" gaze & gesture, ....

Anyone else find this really irritating?

Not even close to that PHB's d*** effin' index! So the who-can-cast-this-spell-problem is easily solved by a paper bookmark in a paper book.
