I understand what you are saying, but if a player wants to be in a wheel chair why nitpick over it? Characters in D&D can take multiple attacks with lethal weapons, they can fly, they can make a Wish, they can resurrect the dead. I just don't think this is the biggest gotcha moment of this...

Respectfully, no you don't. If you have someone who wants a wheelchair in your game let them move about just like any other PC it won't break the game.

Druids shapeshift, Wizards cast fireballs, and monks can teleport through shadows and this is where you have trouble suspending your disbelief? ;)

One of my groups avoids fights more often than not. I wasn't used to this so I had to adjust as the DM. Now I love it so my NPCs can be better-rounded since they are more than likely going to have time to share their goals.

The Laundry RPG was produced several years ago by Cubicle 7.

You could probably have the player roll the Doom pool as part of their dice pool and it would pretty much work the same way. I'm not going to say the FFG's Genesys system was inspired by Cortex but they have similar goals.

That is an excellent point, unfortunately, I prefer games with hit points and generally won't run games without them. This could be the exception though.
