    George Lucas...WTF?

Well tbh it does look like a lightsaber. That was my first thought when I saw the photo a while back, and I still make that connection. And I doubt it'd be a serious problem in the future, as lightsabers design is not very ergonomic as grips go. Which is one of many arguments why this likely...

Encounter: Any views on this puzzle combat?

What are the players character classes/races? It might help foresee some problems. Possible ways to temper with this so far: bag of holding ftw. sanctuary+shield of hope and they're set. Good thing they don't have access to consecrated ground, or else it'd be a lot easier. mage hand ftw once...

    3d cad models of minitures

First off - that is so cool. Even for WotC, since they could distribute 3d models via DDI when it becomes more common, and their minis float on ebay more often (that's what happens when you sell things for 1000% of their making cost in 3rd world). Second - you don't need CAD model, any 3D will...

    Player Character background help.

A couple of questions: what alignment is he + what other players/classes are there in the party? Anyway - not everything is gold what sparkles. Using ignorant mortals to push further your agenda is always a nice thing, but using servants of good gods to do so? Priceless. The warlock who ruled...

    Tips On Being Evil

Hehe, as I warned - I tend to... go on, and on sometimes, even when I know I should stop ;-) And for y'all chaotic evil fans out there, not knowing how to hide your tendencies when travelling with others: Norman wouldn't hurt a fly As well as OOTS strips 605 and 606 (and as to actual evil...

Servants of the Fey Queen of Nightmares

Not particularly powerful, and would have to be conversed from earlier ed, but... Campestri ftw! Damn wacky shrooms... Speaking of sentient molds: Vegepygmy (vegepigmeys?) p.273 And maybe some Tengu NPC's (p. 263)? Doppelgangers (p. 89) could fill in in roles of lost relatives, NPC's they...

My players want to buy an Inn.

There is a lot of great examples of inn-connected quests in mxyzplk's story hour Reavers on the Seas of Fate (starting from post 4). The campaign is based on a number of published products, so it should be easy to reuse. And it's fun to read :)

What are good Action Point Alternatives/Enhancements?

I like mxyzplk take on hero points called infamy points introduced here.

    Problem Player Woes

Weeeell, it sort of looks like a mild OCD, which in connection of him being a friend outside of group would make me uncomfortable with kicking him out. That said, I'm not the one who's had to put up with his shenanigans :P Since he's not giving rat ass about the group though, it might make...

I want some opinions... (gaming topic)

It's a nasty risk of asking questions - one might not like the answer. (Emphasis mine) He gave them a choice. He didn't strongarm them, harass or just told to get another sourcebook and re-roll. As we already know, questions don't always turn up the answers we want to hear. If the group...

    Do you pull the chain?

Test is simple and accurate, but might be risky. Have someone hit you. Do you die instantly? This is version if you think you're not a minion. Of course, if you think you might be, it will be safer to put your clothes on fire, if it doesn't damage you... well, you probably should stand up to...

    Tips On Being Evil

Yeah, right. While I do enjoy players that can be anything close to actual good... Well - they tend to think of themselves as neutral, or are vastly genre blind (hence the girlfriend). PC's go across the forest and notice five goblins eating around a fire. "Oh, hello there, fellow sentient...

    extended rests

Um, see, that's precisely the kind of situation where you don't take extended rest. They should have like 1h before first wave of reinforcements, and maybe 2-3 before a total lock-down of said prison. And if they do extended rest before they take out all the wardens? They should consider...

    Tips On Being Evil

Um, that would make the forces of good adventurers consist of several girlfriends trying the whole RPG thingie, and maybe some groups playing exclusively campaigns against undead.

    What's in a name?

Most obvious routes are: Reverse spelling/anagrams (hello there, Alucard and Alcardu!) Description names/charactonyms: the catfolk, but also Irontooth, Sly, Underdark etc Linguistic journey. Dwarfs already tend to get Scottish accents. The additional advantage here is that most names have...

    Tips On Being Evil

This is certainly one way to go, but I think that the borders between good and evil can be easily blurred in such extreme situations, because people will rationalize their choices. Example - how goblins, orcs and other "evil" races are treated by LG characters in fiction everywhere. On the other...

    Tips On Being Evil

That's lawful evil, which is IMO very close to lawful good. LE probably hates chaotic evil even more than anything else. It's also much better for NPC's/organizations than PC's, but that might (and probably is) be personal preference. Neutral evil can operate within LE organizations very well...

    What Edition/Version for my Mega-Dungeon

"Must spread, yadi yadi yada". Too late to change from "other" to Pathfinder? With proper DM, those systems (3.5/Path) can be really great, and it seems that you're not the type to fall for their shiny traps. Slight nudge towards Pathfinder mostly because it's somewhat heavier on skills...

    55% to hit always

Um, and why would you need to roll anything, and a d20 at that? It's basically heads or tails, just dig out a quarter.

    What Edition/Version for my Mega-Dungeon

As "other" I meant MERP/Rolemaster - I always had fun with traps and like in this system. It tends to be quite brutal to PC's though. Out of DnD family - I'd say 3rd, but that's mainly because 3.5/Pathfinder makes me think of more open settings, and earlier - I do not know.
