    Ranger Multiclass Feat Erratta

Nevermind, I found it in the core handbook errata thread ✦ p.208: the second sentence of the Warrior of the Wild benefit should say, “Once per encounter until the end of your next turn, you may use the Hunter's Quarry class feature” [WotC_Miko] So it sounds like you can get 2 shots off with...

    firing into melee combat

Agree with Victoly, it sounds realistic but it really just amounts to a feat tax on ranged characters. If you absolutely have to add a penalty, you should probably only make it apply to non ranged characters like fighters and warlords. Assume everyone else has the "feat" for free.

    Ranger Multiclass Feat Erratta

Awhile back somebody said there was erratta on the ranger multiclass feat in the PHB, and that the hunter's quarry ability it granted only lasted one round. Since the book has been out though, I haven't been able to find anything about that, or any erratta at all really (not counting the FAQ...

    Why Grab Does Not Work

And you don't simply swing a long sword at somebody, you have to block their own sword thrusts, knock away their guard and find a weak point of their armor to run your sword through. Whenever you attack somebody with a weapon your assumed to be using the most effective method of doing so. It's...

D&D 4E Heavy Concrete Data on 4e's Skill Challenge System (long, lots of tables)

I don't really have a problem with Skilly McAwesome always or almost always winning skill challenges related to his own skill. But the aid another thing is a good demonstration. Seems like if they are going to have skill checks scale with level, they need to have the aid another DC scale with...

    Why Grab Does Not Work

You mean rules for stabbing somebody in heavy armor with a dagger while trying not to get hit by his sword? Yeah those do in fact exist. It's true there is no bonus or penalty for using certain weapons vs. certain armors, but those rules were wildly unpopular in 1e and are gone for a reason.

    Why Grab Does Not Work

So basically it's something you only did when you were desperate, and not when you were actually armed with an effective weapon.

Ray of Frost and Cloud of Daggers; Red Headed Stepchildren of Wizard At-Wills?

On the other hand, bracers of the perfect shot are a fairly cheap magic item which give +2 damage to all your basic ranged attacks (and +4-+6 at higher levels but that's much less cheap). This can give your magic missile and eldritch blast a nice boost).

    Poisons? You're kidding right?

Funny that you say that, when the only effect high level flaming swords have is that once a day you can do 15 ongoing damage with one. The poison is doing that and adding a nasty status effect.

    Poisons? You're kidding right?

The point of the poison isn't so much the damage as the weakened status. We are talking about a poison so potent it can significantly weaken a demi-god or an ancient dragon. And if your complaining about the cost, keep in mind that level 30 magic items cost over 3 million gold. Getting a...

    Poisons? You're kidding right?

Eh by the time your buying something like this your not spending gold pieces, your spending astral diamonds. And this poison only costs 3 astral diamonds. Comparing astral diamonds to gold pieces is like comparing the peso to the british pound. When you get to the city of brass you may find...

D&D 4E Showing the Math: Proving that 4e’s Skill Challenge system is broken (math heavy)

Ah there it is. Ok so it seems like the general rule is that a trained character with an 18 stat should succeed at easy 75% of the time, medium 50% and hard 25%. This seems completely reasonable until you have skill challenges that require twice as many successes as failures. A simple band aid...

D&D 4E Showing the Math: Proving that 4e’s Skill Challenge system is broken (math heavy)

Where are you getting the extra +5 to the DC from? Reading the DMG it just says to use the difficulty by level table, and that's only 15 at level 1 for a medium challenge. I'm assuming I must be missing something but I can't see anything about a +5.

    Warlock Hellish Rebuke

Well I'd say the blood mage's free action is a class feature. In fact if this were to actually come up in game I might be inclined to make stabbing yourself a standard action. Certainly it's a standard action to stab a monster.

    Warlock Hellish Rebuke

Punching you in the face would be a standard action though, so your teammate would be giving up an attack. Makes the combo far less attractive then.

    Warlock Hellish Rebuke

That could work, though as a DM I'd probably rule you aren't guaranteed to only take 1 damage. I'd probably use the blood mage ability that causes a minor injury to himself as a model (1d10 damage).

    Missing Warlock Power

Seems like a reasonable house rule to me too. Now if only we could do something about human clerics.....

    MI Daily Powers: Huh?

Yeah magic item uses are one of those things like hit points, or non combat skills going up as a result of killing things that are more of an abstract game construct. You can justify them in any number of ways if you really want to, but the default is to just not worry about it. Although I don't...

    Tissue-Paper Dungeons?

I didn't even realize basic attacks had power readings, but apparently they do and you are correct. I'll take that to mean that you shouldn't necesarily even use an attack system to resolve breaking down walls, although I'll be the first to admit that it's more likely that they didn't think it...

    Tissue-Paper Dungeons?

Well presumably you can always use basic attacks on the wall. It doesn't seem so unreasonable that you wouldn't be able to for example cleave a wall and kill the minion standing next to it, or trigger a healing surge by smacking the wall.
