    Interesting experience playing KotS

The flavors of kobold are also a bit more unique then they would be in 3e. A 3e kobold sorceror is really no different then a goblin sorceror or an orc sorceror. But a kobold wyrmpriest is a unique and completely different in both flavor and abilities from an orcish eye of grummsh (sp?)

Excerpt: You and Your Magic Items

Funny how we've seen so many posts recently complaining about things NOT being allowed and the game being too restrictive. Now we are seeing somebody complain about the game not being restrictive enough because he wants to house rule things to be less restrictive and to be percieved as improving...

Excerpt: You and Your Magic Items

It's actually only 1 hour as of 3.5. But yeah I hated that in 3.0

They do that to keep crits from becoming completely insignificant at higher level. Doing automatic max damage is significant when you hit for d8+4, but not such a big deal when you hit for d8+40. As for swingy, but the time your getting too many extra dice of damage your opponents all have over...

    D&D 4E 4e Coup de Grace

I like to imagine it effects all creatures the same way. Since both skeletons and oozes apparently have minds of some kind, the spell just makes their mind get drozy and sluggish and eventually drift off.

    Magic items and quests

It appears that the big 3 item slots (weapon/implement, armor and neck) will have major "always on" powers that boost your attacks, ac and defences. They may also have once per encounter or day abilities. The remaining item slots either have no passive bonuses or they have minor ones with...

    D&D 4E 4e Coup de Grace

Interesting to note that oozes (or at least blue oozes) were specifically given immunity to charms but not to sleep. Meanwhlle undead are not immune to either. And neither undead nor oozes appear to be immune to psychic damage. So as strange as sleeping undead and slimes may seem to be, it...

    D&D 4E 4e Coup de Grace

That might work if readied actions work in the same way they did in 3e. Though in order to coordinate a readied attack from every party member you will need to wait til after the monsters turn.....giving him a chance to wake up again. Certainly though you couldn't spend an action point to coup...

    D&D 4E 4e Coup de Grace

If you can only coup de gras a sleeping creature, and a creature wakes up from sleep upon being wounded then only one coup de gras can ever be performed.

    Excerpt: Economies [merged]

That's pretty much what I did in my 3.5 campaign when players didn't want to pay my sometimes overly marked down prices. They could leave the items with a friendly merchant, and after every adventure I would roll for the items to see if they sold. Gave them some extra gold but at a time cost...

    How will you handle this?

I did get a somewhat druidy vibe from some of the fey warlock powers. For the time being some form of multiclassing between that and cleric is probably your best bet, depending if the prefered emphasis is on healing or the nastier druid spells. Cleric/wizard could possibly work too if the player...

How big will my character sheet be?!

One might reasonably assume that the actual character sheets will not need to contain things like flavor text for the powers and races.

    Excerpt: Economies [merged]

High price items take a long time to sell. You need to find somebody who.... a) can use it b) can afford it c) Doesn't already have it or something better d) wants that exact flaming sword and not the the shocking battleaxe the merchant is selling I live in Manhattan and there is a HUGE demand...

    Excerpt: Economies [merged]

And there is really nothing wrong with that if they want to do it. It may work out, netting them some extra gold. Or it may not work out, netting them 0 gold until they finally sell it in town. Creates an interesting decision for the players......take the gold now and use it right away or wait...

    Excerpt: Economies [merged]

Well they said that the material component cost was enough to make the disenchant ritual inefficient, and that removing ti would completely change the balance of the economy towards making magic items. So I'm guessing it's a pretty big cost. Also remember that you need to learn rituals from a...

    Excerpt: Economies [merged]

Well except that say that disenchanting magic items has an expensive material component. And of course requries ritual casting skill and knowledge of the ritual.

Rogue 2nd level utility an encounter power

When we saw tumble in the rogue preview it was shift half your movement (which will usually be 3 squares). So yeah it makes sense that shifting double your movement would be a daily and half your movement would be an encounter.

    D&D 5E (2014) This year's PCs next year's Pantheon?

I got the sense that retired players are expected to potentially be part of the new campaign in some way. They could be minor (or maybe not so minor) dieties, legendary figures, the head of the mages guild or any number of other things at the DM and players options. I'm sure people won't always...

    D&D 4E 4e: Death of the Bildungsroman

Which kind of proves my point really. These abominations of necromancy who can easily rip up a regular peasant aren't even much of a threat to level 1 characters. That makes them sound pretty heroic to me. In comparison 4e characters might actually seem less heroic since they actually have far...

    D&D 4E 4e: Death of the Bildungsroman

Well I'm not sure about dire rats, but taking on necromantically animated bones that move with supernatural speed and shrug off most weapon hits sounds pretty heroic to me.
