    Bard does not suck!

Yeah I had a high level 3.5 bard, he actually contributed quite a bit to the party. On the flip side he was probably the single most boring character to play (in combat at least) that I have ever had. Although he was a respectable fighter, in almost every case it was far more efficient for me to...

Question regarding multiclass: Shaman Spirit ability

I still disagree. The only way you steer your opponent into attacking one target is if that's a better option for them then taking a -2 to hit. You'd rather him not have that option at all. This has nothing to do with gotcha powers, it has to do with assuming your opponents will behave in a...

Question regarding multiclass: Shaman Spirit ability

Well I'm not sure I agree. Marking your opponent is the same as giving them -2 to hit, except that they have an option to negate it. Presumably the only times they will take that option is when it works out best for them. Thus I'd rather not give them the option in the first place.

    Shifter powers, annoying pre-req?

    a) How silly of me to think that running around in a state where one good attack will cause you to die without immediate attention is risky b) You seem to misunderstand the power you are complaining about. The shifter power is an activated ability that's usable while bloodied and which lasts 5...

    Shifter powers, annoying pre-req?

Death has nothing to do with number of healing surges. You can have ALL your healing surges and still be dead. Yes you could put yourself at extreme risk in exchange for a small speed boost that only lasts 5 minutes. Again I have to wonder what game your playing in which this would be likely...

    Shifter powers, annoying pre-req?

Yes because my comments about your all shifter stabby foot race being absurd clearly meant that I was really saying that nobody would ever want +2 movement speed. And if your first thoughts when seeing the shifter were "hey I can injure myself to the point of near death to get a small speed...

    Shifter powers, annoying pre-req?

So your saying that there is a rule in a RPG which can be made to look silly if applied to an unlikely and absurd scenario? That never happens!

    Riposte Strike

I don't think it requires either luck or meta gaming to have a ranged attacker shift away from a melee attacker before attacking. That's just common sense to avoid an AoO.

    Detecting Magic Items

Just to give my opinion on things, as has already been said your ruling is perfectly reasonable by a rules perspective. I also think it's quite reasonable to have bonus magic items that the party doesn't necesarily get unless they succeed at a skill or something like that, likr yout boots of...

Blinding Barrage: interpretation vs literal reading

And of course the hammer of thunderbolts was based off of Thor's hammer from norse mythology. Ancient norse mythology was a total rip off of Xena though......

Blinding Barrage: interpretation vs literal reading

Hmm....you mean if there were flying enemies stacked on top of the ground enemies in every possible space. Yeah I guess that's possible, though potentially unlikely is a bit of an understatement. Still can't hit 36 though, it's pretty clear that Regicide's complaints are based on a some form of...

Blinding Barrage: interpretation vs literal reading

Perhaps you'd like to explain to us how it's possible to get 36 shots with a blast 3 power?

    Wearing armor and resting

It's certainly true that 4e heavy armor is quite a bit less heavy then it's 3e equivelents. It gives far less penalty on movement related checks, and you can even swim in it without too much trouble. So between this and the historical context given by the previous poster, it's probably...

    Help Me Stat a "Sheep"

Well logistics aside, the new undead book is full of minions who explode or do other bad things when they die. Some can potentially cause chain reactions, for example I think there's a zombie minion that blows up doing 7 in a radius when it dies, including to other zombie minions (at least as...

    The monster 'crit' problem

I remember an early design article by Wizards saying at some point that they wanted crits to be less deadly, so they do max damage instead of double. But they didn't want crits to be irrelevent to higher level characters (presumably because doing max damage isn't so relevent if your doing d6+20)...

A couple abilities in Martial Power seem WAY too good...

Yeah overall I was quite happy with martial power. Obviously it wasn't completely balanced, but it still adds a lot to the game. I never expect anything that's introducing 100s of new powers and options to completely balanced, and it's less unbalancing then I thought it would be, while still...

A couple abilities in Martial Power seem WAY too good...

Hmm...well it would make it more of a choice. But I'm not sure if the best solution to a particular class option being overpowered is to try and make every option for that class equally overpowered. The problem was never that FWT was too weak, it's just that the others are too strong.

A couple abilities in Martial Power seem WAY too good...

The tempest fighter seems like he's less of a problem because he's at least at least actually trading defence for damage (even if only a little). He may end up doing striker level damage, but at least unlike BRV he's not also invincible at the same time. So if his damage output turns out to be...

A couple abilities in Martial Power seem WAY too good...

Actually you'd have to avoid having any significant number of soldiers, brutes, lurkers, skirmishers and many controllers as well. But yeah the class is perfectly balanced as long as the DM ignores 90% of the MM when designing his encounters.

    Solar Wrath

Actually I'm fairly certain that it is a typo. If they wanted it to be inaccurate, they would have given it a hit penalty or something like that, rather then removing the implement keyword. Removing the implement or weapon keyword from something makes it get more and more inaccurate as you level...
