Explain to me why are these feats good?

Heavy blade opportunist is great for classes that normally have weak attacls of opportunity. Monsters will normally happily run circles around these classes because they don't fear their attacks. If this feat stops them from doing that, then it's doing it's job.

    Is "Shield" too powerful?

I'm a bit mystified by boundless endurance as well. But at least we can all agree about shield of faith.

    Is "Shield" too powerful?

Well I disagree that hits don't reflect real damage (what they actually reflect is not remotely something that players of D&D have ever been able to completely agree on). But I agree with your overall point that you shouldn't tell players any more then if the attack hit or missed them. Shield is...

    Healing Strike

The attack does good damage (2w) and has one of the most powerful possible riders (granting a healing surge). I'm not sure what there is not to like. I even took a multiclass feat to give this one to my fighter (obviously the mark doesn't help me there).

D&D 4E The grindyness of 4e combat: anyone tried a solo monster yet?

Well as has been pointed out by others as well, the numbers you gave were not remotely reasonable. Even Valhalla's numbers were significantly higher then yours, and he went out of his way to play a weak character. All the numbers I gave assumed a standard point array, and did not involve...

Weapon focus and spell damage feats

Speaking from the perspective of a fighter, I can say that currently we have quite a few feats that require us to put attribute points into stats that don't help us all that much. It doesn't seem so unreasonable that a spellcaster would as well.

D&D 4E The grindyness of 4e combat: anyone tried a solo monster yet?

Well a +10 would be almost unheard of, there's no way somebody at lvl 10 should not have a magic weapon. It's certainly not the "average" value. +12 would be possible for a highly unoptimized character like the one you describe, but should be pretty rare. Certainly it's the first character I've...

D&D 4E The grindyness of 4e combat: anyone tried a solo monster yet?

That would require a 10th level character who started off with a 14 in his prime stat and who was running around with no magic weapon. More common would be +15-+17(+5 for level, +5 for attribute, +2-3 for weapon prof, +3 for magic, +0-1 for class bonuses).

Literal reading vs common sense - which should take precedence?

Yeah that's why I thought that they might have removed that rule, a situation should never come up when somebody needs more then a 20 to hit. If your that much stronger then your oponent then your oponent should be "upgraded" to a minion with a higher level. But I guess there might be times...

Literal reading vs common sense - which should take precedence?

Actually from what I can tell from reading the PHB, a natural 20 is no longer an automatic hit. It's possible I missed something, but even in the section on critical hits it says a 20 is only a crit if the roll would have been high enough to hit the target.

Literal reading vs common sense - which should take precedence?

Well the cat tripping a tarasque bring up an interesting question regarding regarding common sense (never mind the fact that a cat can't hit a tarasque to trip him in the first place). I have no problem imagining that there could be a magical cat that can trip giant creatures. I do however...

    Unbalanced striker extra damage?

Not being able to flank makes it very hard to sneak attack at range. There are only so many times somebody is going to be knocked prone or dazed. It may never happen at all. And being -2 to hit against prone is a big deal, especially compared to the +2 you'd normally get. Well I may have...

    Unbalanced striker extra damage?

It's possible yes, but it's much harder to sneak attack at range. Only a small number of rogue powers work at range as well. Take a look at the rogue powers and the warlock powers beyond level 1, and tell me if you can seriously say rogues have as much control as warlocks.

D&D 4E Bag of Tricks seems to be a look into 4E summoning

Although it appears to require a minor action for each action the creature takes. So if you need your cats to move and attack that would require 2 minor actions each. Of course the limit on daily item usage would be more restrictive here most likely.

Literal reading vs common sense - which should take precedence?

There are always going to be some times when you just have to make a common sense ruling because no set of pen and paper rules can cover everything. To use an example I always gave in 3e, and which works just as well in 4e, by the letter of the rule it's completely legal to have your horse...

    Cleric - Guardian of Faith

As an important side note, the zombies can just move right through the space containing a guardian of the faith. It's not capable of blocking or trapping anyone. Regarding xp, while it's probably not a good idea to punish clever play it may be reasonable in cases to give lower xp values if the...

    Unbalanced striker extra damage?

Attacking at range is a huge advantage, so you can't really compare the warlock to the rogue.....ranged attacks should be weaker then melee. Comparing warlock to a bow ranger is a better exercise and the warlock does certainly do less damage. However his attacks also have more of a control...

    Cleric - Guardian of Faith

Well the guardian of faith is not a creature and it can't be attacked. The zombies would be no more likely to attack it then they would to attack a wall, a door or a wall of fire (in fat they'd probably be more likely to attack the wall or door because those they could concievably destroy)...

    Swordmage: Class creep too fast?

My only issue with the sword mage is the mark and run tactic that they favor (for aegis of shielding). I think they need to be given a paladin like restriction where they need to stay near their targets instead of running as far away as possible. Other then that, their at wills are better then...

    Can I move 0?

I have less of a problem with you spending a move action to reposition yourself, and more of a problem with your rogue somehow knowing that he rolled a 12 and that he would need higher then that to beat the perception of the approaching kobold.
