    Cut-scenes?

While I love them as a plot device in novels and films, I have a hard time using them while gaming. Sure, it serves pretty well to get your players more "immersed" in the story, but then again, you can never be sure that no one will use that OOC knowledge in some kind of way that slips by your...

    Average Combat Length

I'm with Creamsteak and CombatWombat here. Combat tends to take 10 rounds as an estimated average, with most of the fights easily going into the 20+ range (especially bossfights). My players also do lots of tactical stuff, and I play the bad guys accordingly ;).

In need of a Monastery Map

There's one in Dungeon #99 (Jun 2003), page 48 (githzerai monastery). Also, you might try the githyanki fortress found in Map Folio I, methinks. Phineas Crow also created one here. Cheers, Ryltar

    Complete Divine: Buying?

Ordered it, it should arrive on Thursday. But that's rather due to an uncontrollable urge to collect THEM ALL, not because I will play a cleric in the near future ;).

    Lamest character deaths ever!

An already wounded ftr4/brb1, who charged an enemy wizard in his study, tripped over a chair (he failed his jump AND balance check ... oww), fell facedown before the wizard, who then AoO'ed him with a quarterstaff, scoring a critical hit :D. It was hilarious.

Tell me why you love the Draconomicon

The greatest art in a non-DiTerlizzli book ever. Period.

    Point Buy

See, this is exactly what I can't stand concerning PB ;). "Life" isn't fair, or balanced. Why should fantasy be? I see this as an additional challenge to overcome, but not one that makes it impossible for the players to "be" the character of their choice. Randomized stats, but being able to...

Totally agreed. That's why I allow free distribution of the roll results. No problems there.

    Magic Items with problems

off the top of my head: bracers which lock your hands together (unless you are level x+, equal to their creator; belong to a certain race, etc.) boots of haste which make you run around uncontrollably if you mispronounce the command word a sword that appears to be tailored to a PC's class and...

    Fleshgrinding Weapons..

IMO, it should be Weapon damage (including weapon enhancement and/ or damage caused by weapon effects) + STR, and nothing else. The feats, e.g. weapon focus, increase the wielder's abilities to deal damage by having mastered his weapon and thus being able to use it more effectively; the...

As a DM, my method of choice is 7 x 3d6, drop lowest roll. This alleviates some of the worst problems players with "too low" stats tend to face, and makes for balanced characters. I agree that 3d6 can be too harsh, but this is a question for another time: can you roleplay your character...

    Point Buy

I absolutely despise point buy character generation. IMO, it generates characters that tend to have more "balanced out" stats than those just rolling the dice, which makes for a more "realistic" generation method: each character has strenghths and weaknesses, and has to build upon them regarding...

Any idea for the last adventure of my campaign please?

A way to bypass the trap: Telekinesis (if the chest isn't to heavy).

Or you might have them negotiate with one of the various UD races: in exchange for help in finding the demon, the PCs must complete [insert task of GM's choice here].

    Your Favorite Villains

A blackguard of Talona, slowly corrupting the faith of the lead PCs and destroying everything they believe in. Even if it is a bit cliché ... it creates a darn emotional atmosphere. I think once the PCs have a chance to get their hands on the BBEG, nothing in the planes can save him :D.

What is the best Free RPG accessory you have ever used?

I'll have to agree with Ant: The Skeleton Key stuff is just awesome.

Is Manual of the Planes obsolete?

We'll see when it's out. Just painting the future bl(e)a(c)k, is all. ;) I will get the book, just for its planesy contents, but I am still hoping that they put lots of ideas and flavor stuff in there. That would really make it an invaluable book, as opposed to the MotP, which didn't really do...

    D&D and Vocabulary

Ditto. I probably learned more English from reading fantasy novels and D&D stuff than back in school... it really helps to improve your vocabulary in certain ways (like scenic descriptions, arms & armor, tactics, flavored speeches) but (as Bloodstone Press already mentioned) also tends to get...
