    D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on 2 spell-less Ranger versions.

Reason had under 1 title is that through their travels, ranger's vision would improve and learn medicinal properties of herbs. Regarding the sunlight sensitivity, I guess its a matter of opinion. Can easily be said that there are underground caverns which have illuminations similar to daylight...

    D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on 2 spell-less Ranger versions.

https://www.gmbinder.com/share/-Mn3LZsA9S36mTNc_Jqx https://www.gmbinder.com/share/-Mmf05qjFEmWowG2nAf2 I am focusing on creating a spell-less Ranger and debating between 2 versions. I never liked the Favored Foe feature, so that is not present in either version. The second version has a beast...

    D&D 5E (2014) Martial Ranger

I agree that some abilities may be "magical" but could just be the effects of what is cultivated in the environment. Like using smoking pipes to communicate with ancestors, spiritual beast companion, etc. Couldn't think of better name. Maybe Herbalism something or other. Glitterdust. Doesn't...

Thank you for the compliment, especially considering your preference.

    D&D 5E (2014) Martial Ranger

Thank you. Will change it. So you think it should be unlimited uses? I thought it would be to OP early on. Also, some of the archetype bonus damage increases at 11th level to help keep up with damage output. For hunter's Eye, did not want to add to many points into 1 feature early on. It...

    D&D 5E (2014) Martial Ranger

https://www.gmbinder.com/share/-MlmC8bCGtpTedm6Sfht After reading the debate about spell-less rangers, thought I would throw out a version and see what people thought. I and most in our groups prefer non-spellcasting Rangers. There are also 14 archetypes, 10 of which are new. The only thing...

D&D 5E (2014) Why are non-caster Ranger themes so popular?

Thank you. I am certain there may be other talents others may wish to include, but these, and its variations, were in most homebrew versions. Never been fond on Favored Foe (FF) either, but many do like the feature and that is why it is included. Still debating on whether FF II should be...

D&D 5E (2014) Why are non-caster Ranger themes so popular?

We recently created a Ranger using choices as the warlocks invocations. If you are interested, https://www.gmbinder.com/share/-MlCD_RBFyCTPllCUop6

D&D 5E (2014) Why are non-caster Ranger themes so popular?

I agree. Many have tried to create a new Ranger class. Most homebrew have similar features. The issue is when said feature should be attained. Even at our tables we created a variant ranger class that has been used for a few years but now are tinkering with a version that uses the Warlock...

D&D 5E (2014) Why are non-caster Ranger themes so popular?

WOTC just refuse to go in that direction. Their sole UA attempt was to make a weaker version of the battle master. As in any homebrew product, most are poorly done. However, there are some very good renditions of rangers without spells. The problem is what features and when they should be...

D&D 5E (2014) Why are non-caster Ranger themes so popular?

Why I see the paladin with spell is that they are they are the god's champion and are granted powers (spells) to defeat their enemies. The ranger is a person who lives and survives in nature using their mind and skills. Their life is a hard one, and having spells would make their life easier...

D&D 5E (2014) Too Many PC Races With Darkvision? (a Poll)

I agree. having it as a feat is perfect as it could be a part of the character's background of how and where they lived. Example a human who was kept as a prisoner in the Underdark learned to adapt to low lighting

D&D 5E (2014) Anyone using spell points from the DMG?

We have used them for Sorcerers only to separate from other casters. The Sorcery Points are kept separate and a number equal to your charisma modifier are regained after a short rest

    D&D 5E (2014) Cinematic Initiative Variant (CIV)

No point other than the group having fun with whose stat is going to be used next. It’s hilarious when they jokingly talk smack about what stat is used

    D&D 5E (2014) Cinematic Initiative Variant (CIV)

To be honest, no rationale behind them. Its just to rotate stats.

To get away from dexterity, we roll a die to determine which attribute the initiative is based on. The next encounter is rolled again minus the previous attribute(s) until each is represented.

Playtest (A5E) Level Up Playtest Document #7: Ranger

Most of us like playing a Ranger, and half of us have played since basic. We have played with versions of spell-less rangers, our own and others available on various platforms. Unfortunately, this version has not made our list of wanting to play.

D&D 5E (2014) Does the Variant Human need a boost now after Tasha's changes

Variant human was not a mistake at all. A feat to compete with races that offer multiple variations of darkvision, weapons, armor, poison/sleep/charm resistance, and spells.

D&D 5E (2014) Does the Variant Human need a boost now after Tasha's changes

Or take it reversed. 1. If a race wants to be able to move their scores elsewhere, it becomes a +1/+1. 2. Rip those pages out

D&D 5E (2014) Does the Variant Human need a boost now after Tasha's changes

Exactly. Every weapon using class has weapons, so a race could exchange 4 weapons for 4 skills, or 4 tools which are very strong. Your argument makes it seem that WoTC never makes a mistake which is far from the truth.
