War Birds Dives Into WWII History: A Review

This looks like a good use of "serious subject matter" games as a teaching/learning tool. It's definitely on my radar now, thanks for the great review!

    D&D 5E (2014) Strongholds & Followers: A Review

This is exactly what I need in a review, thanks! It does look interesting, and a really good launching off point for him. Hopefully he cleans up some of the design flaws in his up coming titles, because 5e really needs these supporting supplements!

    A D100 Revolution With Revolution D100

This was really interesting, thanks! I haven't been following the BRP/Chaosium news, but it sounds like a smaller-scale version of the early 2000's d20 situation.

D&D General Did anyone ever "win" D&D?

A game I ran for over a year and a half (weekly 8+hour sessions)that ended with the PCs becoming deities and being put on a new world created by AO (the Forgotten Realms Over-God.) They had messed up the world so much with their crusading (for starters: they wiped out the Zhents, literally...

AD&D 1E Seeking advice for my first 1e campaign

Wow... You've all given me quite a bit to think about. Thanks! I'm going to dig through the books a bit more carefully over the next few days and see what I want to use. GDQ sounds too good to skip running, so I might do that rather than the Tomb (or run the tomb as a one-off for them.)

    Detailed Map?

I thought so as well. I was running 3e FR from around 2001 until around 2006 and couldn't find anything like it. It should still work for almost anything you need. I used it the whole time I was running and I can't recall finding any major discrepancies.

AD&D 1E Seeking advice for my first 1e campaign

Heya folks! I'm thinking of running a 1e game starting with Keep on the Borderlands (of course, tweaked for AD&D) and culminating with The Tomb of Horrors. My friends and I have been playing in the range of 10-15 years, and most of my experience as a DM comes from 3e, 4e, Cyberpunk 2020, GURPS...

    Things that WOW didn't invent

Off-topic: Yeah, the Terran vs. Zerg/Space Marines Vs. Tyranids thing was done by Heinlein in Starship Troopers. IIRC the book has the Mobile Infantry in powered armor akin to the Terran Marines and Imperial Space Marines, whereas the movie has them in lighter body armor, akin to the Imperial...

    GTS 2009 D&D Seminar - the Rouse discusses D&D

<Derail> That's why I was asking about a licensing or partnership with an existing VTT producer. The idea being, WotC adds a service for subscribers (say an extra $1/mo. for players, $2/mo. for DMs) that gives you access to all of the 4e rules via the compendium within (ex.) Fantasy Grounds. If...

    GTS 2009 D&D Seminar - the Rouse discusses D&D

Oh, no worries. I'm aware of the survey, but I still hope that The Rouse may be willing and able to spend a moment on the topic. (My hope that it's coming along is so I don't have to spend all that time entering data for a FG2 mod file :p) Even a reply I don't want to hear (i.e. "We've shelved...

    GTS 2009 D&D Seminar - the Rouse discusses D&D

Hi Scott, I scanned the thread over and didn't notice any responces to the question I have. My apologies if I missed them. The online game table was one of the major features that my group was (and still is) looking forward to for 4th edition. Aside from my local friends who I still game with...

If you were Scott Rouse, would you call out for the next week after tonight's mess?

Think about it this way: If he gets in at 9am PDT, the poor guy hasn't even had half an hour to digest this yet. I feel for ya, Scott. Regardless of what people say about WotC, we luuuurrrrrve The Rouse :)

Best way to handle stronghold/domain rules

(Emphasis mine) That sounds like a great way to work a leadership-style feat (or PP?), allowing you to hire adventurers to clear those things out. Funny, I seem to remember something about retired adventurers settling down and hiring out young'ns to clear kobolds for them since they're bogged...
