    Wizards, I feel jipped

I forgot right now where I read it (obviously it was sometime after the change in schedule) but from what I remember, it's regarding the quality of the books. (Ink smudges? Thickness of paper?)

    Wizards, I feel jipped

Martial Power was supposed to come out in October. It got switched with the D&D Basic Set because of the change in printers.

    Official 4e "Monster Builder"

I like Asmor's stuff but there's still room for improvement. There are still some things that his Monster Generator can't do (which I fix by modifying the final output in a word processor/web design program). And then there's the minor quibble of spacing...

Stuff that still bugs me about 4e

Not much change, just worth mentioning. I don't want to get into a 3E vs 4E argument. Suffice to say, the former was an escalation of immunities on both sides of the table (immune to crits, immune to various elements, immune to death, etc.) to the point that usage of several abilities on the...

Stuff that still bugs me about 4e

Space and (design) time? Well, not ALL the monsters have "save or die". And if you noticed, those kinds of effects are only available at the Paragon and Epic tier. Besides, we don't want to coddle our players too much. Death is still very much possible in 4E. As for PCs not having it, the...

4E Criticals - explain to me why they're less swingy

Criticals in 4E, especially at higher levels, is actually swingy (then again, my players were using Vorpal/Vicious/Berserker weapons). However, the caveat here is that it's one-sided. Players have awesome criticals. Majority of the monsters don't (the scimitar-wielding monsters are the...

    H1, 2 & 3 for 3 players

I've run Shadowfell for 2~3 players. I didn't give them an inflated point buy nor did I give them extra levels. I just removed monsters. Usually it's a 1:1 ratio, except in the case of minions which is 4:1. So if you have 3 players, you can remove 2 monsters from each encounter.

    Anyone fought an Ancient Red?

The Action Surge was helpful in getting the Warlod hit with Lead the Attack. A +5~+6 bonus is nothing to sneeze at. At that point, it's still difficult to hit the Pit Fiend but they didn't need 19's or 20's anymore. And by then, they piled on the status effects. The henchmen were focusing...

    Anyone fought an Ancient Red?

Combat Advantage and Action Surge gives a +5 bonus total. The Cleric also had a zone which gave a small power bonus. The Warlord hit with Lead the Attack so... As for the defenses, it was more on the leaders healing. I rolled a few 1's and 2's but for the most part, I was hitting.

    Anyone fought an Ancient Red?

I'd just like to share that I threw a Pit Fiend (AC 44) against 7 Level 20 PCs (attack bonus of 23~26) and they did manage to hit and kill it. Superior tactics came into play (i.e. Combat Advantage) as well as judicious use of various abilities (i.e. Cleric and Warlord Buffs, armor penalties of...

D&D 4E Podcasts - Any Good Ones Around?

It's also best to listen to podcasts when you're doing something else (i.e. driving, jogging, etc.). It's not optimal to listen to podcasts as your sole activity.
