    Saddest Song Ever

Far too short, but "A Gap in a Dream" from the End of Evangelion soundtrack is heartbreaking. From the same source, "Invasion by Substitution" is also sad.

Movie Challenge - $300 Million USD = A new Epic franchise.

Three words: First Tyrannic War. I haven't read Warriors of Ultramar, but the Battle of Maccrage and the last stand of the 1st Company is just perfect movie fodder insofar as 40K goes.

OK, wasn't sure about The Blackening's release date because the hype juggernaut started late last year. Through the Ashes of Empires is fantastic, worth picking up just for "Imperium", easily their best song since "Old". Machine Head really are a great band when they want to be, just save...

    Tieflings are Draenai

And the alliance is a coalition of 12 year olds and goobers. See, I can generalise too :] FOR THE HORDE! And cookies!

The Blackening was released last year IIRC, so I didn't count it. Really built on the return to form that Through the Ashes of Empires was though, although I think TtAoE was better. I saw these guys live too, as I've said, and Rob Flynn is just THE MAN live. Sad fact is though that everything...

The M:tG "What color are you?" test...WTF

Applying alignments to M:TG isn't really that straightforward. White is Lawful, not necessarily good. The Order in particular during the Odyssey/Onslaught blocks was home to some noble and benevolent leaders, but also produced the intolerant, despotic and hopelessly self-righteous Teroh...

Please note that I have these three on order at my beloved JB Hi-Fi. Getting a hold of Ulver's material in particularly seems to be a right- royal nightmare. REALLY looking forward to hearing what Rygg and his crew have come up with

Hey, I'm at it again with the Threadcromancy! The year's almost through, and looking through my CDs is struck me that its been a good year, for me at least, in terms of metal. Some absolutely fantastic releases this year, with several bands proving that they sure as hell can still cut it. So...

    For the first time... apprehension

A personal motto of mine when it comes to RPGs, and games in general in fact, is that what makes for good story does not necessarily make for good game. Narrative sense and storytelling are all far more appealing concepts when you're not the one who's being effectively benched from the game by...

    For the first time... apprehension

The issue here is that as has been said, Constructs have joints, Undead have important parts to their anatomy. Snapping a zombie's spine or crushing an Iron Golem's knee is going to mess it up real bad. Oozes and Elementals are just one animate mass of whatever, them being immune is fine, but...

So its not just my group, where one player refers to "Nightcrawling" the Fighters into combat.

When you as DM cry foul in the players' favor

Age of Worms, the Swords of Kyuss. Their ability to 3/day sling a negative energy fireball that deals 1d6 per HD of the creature is crazy business the first time the players meet them. The fact that it also heals the Swords takes it over the edge.

    More boardgaming.

Sweet. As a big fan of WoW in both board game and online form, I'll be picking this one up. And HALLE-FRICKIN-LUJAH! Big ol' Ragnaros finally gets to be an overlord!

    DRAGON #360 Art Gallery: Dryad

OK, now I'm really confused. People choosing X and Y feat/skill combos is more an issue with the players than the classes. And how the heck the class system was EVER able to represent classic characters from fiction and myth is completely beyond me. You say you wouldn't want to classes...

I see this argment crop up all the time, and it still makes no sense to me. Nowhere do I see dilution of the class archetypes at all. If you disagree, enligten me, I'm genuinely curious. In terms of races, archetype doesn't have to be diluted. Class/race interaction has no place here for my...

    Cursed Items

Cursed items, with few exceptions, as they're presented in the DMG currently, are an abomination. They exist as nothing more than an infantile and annoying "neener neener" at the players. This, on the other hand, I like. Power at a price is a much cooler concept, and actually presents a...

    DRAGON #360 Art Gallery: Dryad

Ah, I get it. Every race must fit into the stereotypical roles or the world will stop spinning and we'll be flung into space. I really don't see the issue. D&D has pretty much become its own genre, why is there some ingrained need for it to cleave to external prior traditions? Nor am I...
