    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #1: "Everything You Need To Know!"

Well, to be fair, you did talk about chain mail bikinis.. Anyway, hasn’t most of the class art looked like that? The domestic scenes have all been exclusively species pics. Which makes sense, as not everyone springs from their parent a fully formed murder hobo. I appreciate they are taking...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #1: "Everything You Need To Know!"

I’m sorry, but “where is all the blood and female cheesecake, and omg people might be offended!” sounds awfully similar to people arguing against ‘worrying woke trends’.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #1: "Everything You Need To Know!"

My god. Of all the things to be outraged about in the new books (and there seems to be a lot, based on this board), the fact there isn’t enough T&A is what you’re focusing on? You’ve got an entire international database of naked people at your fingertips, and you’re complaining you don’t see...

    D&D 5E (2024) Let's call it 5.24

Fair. But I'll still pretty much think of it as '5e' and '2014 5e' if I need to reference it. Much like it's generally assumed people are using the Tasha options, and otherwise talk about pre-Tasha's. Face it, outside of this board, it's unlikely to be an issue either way :)

    D&D 5E (2024) Collage of Dance Reveal

With all this "not a real job" talk, I'm amazed (considering the age skew around here) that no has tapped Dire Straits yet... "Now look at them yo-yos, that's the way you do it You play the guitar on the MTV That ain't workin', that's the way you do it Money for nothin' and your chicks for...

    D&D 5E (2024) Let's call it 5.24

I'm just calling it 5e. Or, just D&D. My group will know what I mean. Most of the general public will likely switch, especially since it will be the only version available going forward. If I need to distinguish, I'll likely just refer to the old version as 2014. As time moves on, I think...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #1: "Everything You Need To Know!"

But you’ve been quite clear you have no intention of buying these books. Or any books by WOTC, and haven’t for a good long while, by my memory. You’ve found other games you prefer. Nothing wrong with preferring a different style of game! But I’m not sure why you’re arguing that a game you...

I…wouldn’t mind that, actually. Just like I say I started with Moldvay Basic, and others say Mentzer’s.

D&D 5E (2024) New Dungeon Master's Guide Cover Features Venger (From the D&D Cartoons)

Don’t discount the value of Gen X nostalgia. There’s still an awful lot of us still around. And the fact that some newer players may not be able to name those characters doesn’t detract from the fact it’s a cool painting. So, it doesn’t hurt the younger audience, and might give us old folk a...

D&D 5E (2024) New Dungeon Master's Guide Cover Features Venger (From the D&D Cartoons)

A brushy art style does not mean it’s not finished. It’s a choice. Lots of great paintings over the centuries have had a brushy art style. In fact, one of the mark of a lot of great masters was knowing what details to focus on, and which to leave vague. Doesn’t mean you have to like it. But...

D&D 5E (2024) New Dungeon Master's Guide Cover Features Venger (From the D&D Cartoons)

I have to admit, I kinda’ like it. Love the colours, and seeing Warduke and Venger does my old heart good.

    Dragonbane by Free League

True. But when the dungeons are small with little opportunity for choosing different way through, with dangerous monsters that are unavoidable, and humanoid npcs that are described as being inherently hostile and unlikely to negotiate, it feels a little hampering. At least on a first read through.

    Dragonbane by Free League

I had the same reaction as you, and then was flummoxed by the inherently combat intensive dungeons. It feels like it should be a system that rewards finding ways around combat, through negotiation or cleverness, with combat being a brutal but exciting final option. But the adventures don’t...

D&D General D&D Red Box: Who Is The Warrior?

While I'm sure most people assumed they were male at the time (and why wouldn't we...it was the main character!), @Morrus is right, in that it's always been ambiguous. At least in hindsight, where we recognize that not all women action heroes need to look like pin up models. The proof of this...

WotC Vecna Eve of Ruin: Everything You Need To Know

Is there any guidance for equipping new level 10 characters? With regards to magic items, I mean? We’re much more familiar at playing at lower levels, where magic item variance isn’t such a big deal. But I’d expect characters at levels 10 to 20 might be expected to have a larger magic haul...
