I do not, and have never, like James Bond and do not care who is directing it or playing bond. There are a million better literary and cinematic spies.

Spoilers Star Wars: Andor season 2

That is an interesting interpretation. I don't share it, at least insofar as it suggesting that the characters were never actually heroic. But individual heroes can only do so much. Rebellions are built on Hope, after all, and powered by the masses. Ando speaks very much the same message.

    Daggerheart General Thread [+]

One of the things (for me personally) about treating experiences like aspects is that , like aspects, they are always true in the fiction -- even when the player doesn't spends Hope for the +2, the fact of the experience is still true. Depending on the precise experience and the circumstances...

D&D General What makes a TTRPG a "D&D Variant" to you?

I... completely misread the post I quoted. So, uh, yeah, what @Ruin Explorer said.

Critical Role Announces Age of Umbra Daggerheart Campaign, Starting May 29th

Then you're in luck! Because when they mess up or don't follow a rule, you get to reinforce your learning by looking it up to see how or what. It's a win-win for you and for the people that don't care.

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

Because humans are looking at the art.

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

Oh no! Nudity! Won't someone think of the children?!? Here's the thing about that image: it isn't a explotative fan service. That creature is downright dangerous, and you can tell in that picture. She isn't there seducing you -- you have stumbled upon her home and she is not pleased about. She...

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

I mean, this is cool, but it isn't particularly Daggerheart specific. You could post this on a Dungeon World or 5E sub and it would be of equal "value".

So we are just going to assume optimizers are going to play nice? Sorry, I don't buy it. It is exceedingly rare for people to optimize their character and then not Hog the spotlight, but I will concede that it does exist. But in the end, in a narrative game charop just doesn't make any.sensr.

Critical Role Announces Age of Umbra Daggerheart Campaign, Starting May 29th

I think it is a little presumptuous for folks to assune/decide that this current stream is explicitly intended to be a "teaching Daggerheart" stream. NONE of the CR participants are considered lead designers, and only Mercer is credited at all. These are folks that of course have a financial...

Spoilers Star Wars: Andor season 2

I finally finished Andor and all I can say is that I desperately want a FULL SEASON version of Rogue One. So good. Perfect, even. Best TV since True Detective S1 or Westworld S1.

D&D General What makes a TTRPG a "D&D Variant" to you?

That is exactly backwards. EDIT: Uh, reading is hard.

D&D General What makes a TTRPG a "D&D Variant" to you?

I think that category is so broad as to be effectively meaningless.

Critical Role Announces Age of Umbra Daggerheart Campaign, Starting May 29th

I'm not sure there's much to be gained from harping on the CR crew playing DH in a 5E style. Their goals are different than our goals in that regard. They are showing off the game so far as it goes. And really, I'm not sure any hard-core PbtA players would be intrigued or put off. They already...

The mechanics might support it, but the player principles don't. It isn't a GM (NOT DM) issue, it is a player issue because DH specifically requires players to share the spotlight. Char-op is a problem in that regard.
