D&D 5E (2014) My D&D Next Wishlist: Bring back XP for GP!

How many people actually followed that rule? It's just anecdotal but I can't remember anyone doing so. Plus the G123 modules specifically state PCs can level up when the rest outside the dungeon. The bit about getting out of the dungeon with your xp/gp was generally enforced.

D&D 5E (2014) My D&D Next Wishlist: Bring back XP for GP!

I think xp for gp would be a great optional rule but I think a lot of people would be against it as a standard rule. I agree with the above poster that there should be a lot of avenues for xp. One I would add, which was in the Companion Set rules, was gaining xp for running a dominion.

Currencies in D&D and what they can be used for

. Remember that in the older editions GP wasn't 'exchanged' for XP. You simply got xp based on the treasure you accumulated.

What will eventually be the classic adventures!

Perhaps i'm out of the loop but I can't believe Red Hand of Doom had nearly the amount of sales to make it a 'classic' as much as some fo the adventures the came out in the very early 3e era when there was loads of enthusiasm for new D&D adventures at least in the sense that it was widely...

What will eventually be the classic adventures!

I don't think there are any modules nowadays that can compare to the popularity of classic 1e or ODnD adventures. Back them, there were no splatbooks, DMG2s, campaign settings (ok, maybe there was one, but no supplements) etc. Adventures were the only supplemental materials you could buy and...

    iProduct d20 Apps

App developers that support 3e are aiding WotCs competitors; or if not, such activity supports an edition that WotC no longer sells, which may take away sales from WotC's current edition.

What Wotc isn't interested in is aiding its competitors, which is entirely reasonable.

The Future of D&D Seminar - Full Video from PAX East

The solution to this is the approach Necromancer Games had in the 3e era. NG understood that 1st edition feel didn't mean they couldn't use the 'modern' (3e at the time) rules. Not only that, but their products took full advantage of options available in 3e that weren't possible in 1e rules...

D&D 5E (2014) Dear 5e design team: Please research earlier editions

Oh, I understand that even a relatively experienced gamer hasn't actually immersed themselves in everything. However, as long-time gamers I imagine the D&D designers, leaving their professional work aside, have a wide breath of D&D experience. Some of them will be young enough that they don't'...

D&D 5E (2014) Dear 5e design team: Please research earlier editions

Doesn't it practially go without saying that the D&D designers at this point have played all or most of the editions of D&D and are familiar with most of the important D&D products of times gone past? These guys are gamers.

    Get Rid of Splatbooks Altogether

Is that true? Surely copying a page or two for use in your own campaign is ok, if not outright legal?

    Trying to dump cable television.

There is a podcast about 'cord cutting' on the twit network, called Frame Rate. Ironically it's hosted by a couple of guys that claim they want to cut their cable cord but love tv so much they still pay for their overpriced cable. Just one thing, does anyone really think it's economical to cut...

    Kill the fighter

I was responding that to the question ' And how do we make him an unique type of adventurer?' I've never had a problem making a fighter character of any edition (including Basic/Expert where the fighter only improved by getting better hit rolls and hit points) unique by role playing and...

    Kill the fighter

It would be cool if there was a reliable statistically sound method of determining what classes are the most popular. My anectotal feeling is that the fighter is the most popular but I might be wrong. Certainly in the 3a era the fighter became far more interesting with all the powers...

After Ed Greenwood's FR: Gary Gygax's Greyhawk

What does the Gygax estate have to do with it? Doesn't WotC own Greyhawk? I think some kind of Greyhawk sourcebook would be viable. Sure, a lot of people aren't interested, but a lot of people still use the setting or are still interested in it. Most of the assumptions Greyhawk is built on...
