Removing the penalty for multiple attacks

This makes standing still and getting a full attack even better; I prefer the Tome of Battle approach of improving standard attacks.

What are the ideal % of success for PCs succeeding skills?

I think skill checks need to succeed most of the time if the players are to be able to make any sort of plans, especially if you may require multiple checks. I voted 75/25.

    Brainstorming: Fantasy: Changing Magic

True20 has a magic system which is based on a casting bonus/fatigue check which sounds like what you want. It would be difficult to use just the magic system without the rest of the True20 system unless you're prepared to basically write your own system using True20's as a basis. Gamma World...

    Maximizing Magical Items?

It's kid of roundabout, but - artificers have an infusion Metamagic Item which lets them apply one of their metamagic feats to an item. Minor schema are items which let you use a spell or infusion 1/day (infusions can't be substituted for spells in most items). Get the Maximise Spell feat & a...

getting stealthly past walls with magic items?

Eternal wands (ECS, reprinted in MIC I think) allow any arcane spellcaster to use a particular spell effect twice a day, regardless of whether the spell is on their spell list. Dimension Leap (Level 2, Magic of Eberron), Gaseous form & Dimension door all work for this; I'm not sure what level...

    Slashing and bludgeoning weapon

Monks spade, in Secrets of Sarlona. It's an exotic double weapon with a sharpened blade at one end and a weight at the other. Also can be used in a flurry of blows. Looks reasonably believable IMO.

getting stealthly past walls with magic items?

Where is it you're coming from with these questions? Do you have a rogue who needs to do this routinely or an adversary who needs to do it once?

getting stealthly past walls with magic items?

Stone shape has its uses for this sometimes. There are a few other ways to teleport a short distance than spells of the name - the shadowdancer PrC can use a shadow jump ability, the mark of passage (Eberron) has a dimension leap ability, there's one in the Tome of Battle whose name I can't...

How Would You Build a Prescient Character?

For the counters, check out the Setting Sun discipline. You can start with Baffling Defence and/or Counter Charge. Clever Positioning is a strike you might like also. Later on, there's a level 4 strike Strike of the Broken Shield and practically all the level 5 manoeuvres fit your concept I...

    Order of the Stick, 524

Nah - Belkar's just realised that he's not using one of his class features. Mr Scruffy does seem to be tougher than the average housecat, doesn't he?

    Psychic Warrior: Worth it?

If you want to deal damage at range as a psychic warrior, getting a bow and using appropriate powers to buff is your best bet. Alternately, you can spend your 6th level feat on expanded knowledge (Energy Missile) - this will burn thru your power points quite fast so use it sparingly.

    Take 20!?

If the PCs are broadening their characters by spending some points on other skills because they think they're good enough already at Tumble or whatever, is this really a problem? I'd have thought this would be something to be encouraged rather than discouraged.

Explain the appeal of critical fumbles to me

We've used fumbles occurring only on the first attack roll of a sequence to avoid embarrassment to fighters with multiple attacks. The results are usually -2 to attack next round or -2 AC for a round, with weapons dropped or free AoOs or similar only on a 1 or 2 on the confirmation roll. No...

    Theoretical Class Balance

You've just described the perfect class to start with at level 1. Any non-spellcaster would take this for their first level or 2, and some spellcasters would also. If most characters would take it, then its probably unbalanced; this is the case here IMO.

    Bonus feat granting classes

The (core) rogue gets a choice of feats or some special class abilities from level 10. Eldritch knight gives a bonus fighter feat at L1, Heir of Siberys (ECS) gives a bonus general feat at L1. Quite a few prestige classes give specific feats, what are you after exactly?

The Votary, a studious cleric PrC.

I think most of the remaining active special abilities of this PrC are considerably inferior to spells which a cleric of an equivalent level could and would cast. The exception is spontaneous casting of remove fear etc., but this seems fairly harmless to me. The save bonuses & skill points are...

Random things for a wild mage

At high levels, the prismatic ray spell is made for this. Add illusionary flavour side effects to Confusion spells and you've got another match.

The Votary, a studious cleric PrC.

I'm still wondering what the prohibition on murder means exactly. The wording of some of the abilities seems unclear - What type of action are the liturgies? (they seem to be based off bardic abilities, so maybe standard) Is there any limit on how many times per day the liturgies can be...

    "Weapon master" type PrCs

Also, any of the feats which add a weapon to the list of special monk weapons (whirling steel strike [longsword], etc.) could make a monk a weapon master of sorts.

    "Weapon master" type PrCs

Any Bo9S class with the discipline focus feat is better with a handful of weapons & they make great weapon master archetypes.
