Magical Ammunition, building a quiver o' tricks (on a budget)

If you've got the ranger spell which makes one shot an automatic crit threat (hunters mercy?) a couple of thundering arrows might be a worthwhile investment.

D&D 3.x Beating 3.5 Psionics with the nerf bat

I agree - but limiting PP/encounter IME produces a problem also. The character runs out of PP and the player gets bored. I'm looking for a way to force planning, if you will. I'm not stuck on this solution, but I'd like some way of stopping the player burning thru his PP as quickly as possible...

D&D 3.x Beating 3.5 Psionics with the nerf bat

In a campaign using the standard ~4 encounters per day, there's not too much power creep with psions vs. arcane casters. My campaigns usually don't match that formula & I've created some house rules dealing with the mismatch. If anyone has better ideas for dealing with the problems, I'd like to...

    LN Paladin of St Cuthbert

You might try the Bone Knight from Five Nations (Eberron). Creepy yet very lawful. Alternately, the prestige class for House Deneith or that for House Tharashk in Dragonmarked(bodyguard & bounty-hunter types respectively, though I can't remeber either's name) are good for lawful types. Of...

    favored class cleric or sorcerer

There was a gnome-like race called the Uldra which got Cleric as a favoured class, I think in Frostburn? Also as Corsair said, human - or half-elf. Mind telling us what this is for?

Hardest things to balance in game

Warforged. I think they're a balanced if tough LA 0, but all their immunities are a pain to design challenges around (especially the odd situation where you thought they'd be immune and they turn out not to be!) and giving them motivations is a pain also.

Tome of Battle: Book of 9 Swords - Things to watch out for?

A warblade focusing on Iron Heart is a classic swordfighter.

    Gestalt Aeranal Elf in Eberron

Deathless isn't one of the better domains. Its spells and powers really don't match Eberron's fluff concerning the deathless. As well as Good and Protection there are some alternate domains listed in Faiths of Eberron. Some of the fluff you can work with - Aereni historically hate the undead...

    Stealthy Fighter

While we're on the subject of the Bo9S, there's a PrC there called the Ruby Knight Vindicator. It's based off a cleric/crusader multiclass, but they get to counteract the armour check penalties to the Hide skill. I'm not familiar with the details of their religion, but they follow some dark god...

    Stealthy Fighter

Does it need to be a PrC? A Ranger is a sneaky fighter after all. Horizon Walker is the basic Ranger PrC. There are some variant classes which might also fit your requirements - Thugs, Martial Rogues, Urban Rangers.

    My Yokel (NPC country commoner)

What role do you see this filling in the world? Is this an explanation as to why monsters haven't killed off all the farmers or are you trying to create someone who could be a peasant hero out of fairy tales, or do you just want a template for some interesting NPCs? Or is it something I haven't...

    My Yeoman...concerned about balance

PS This class also has plenty of flavour without forcing players down one path or being overly specific to one campaign world (Ambience of Yeomanry aside). I'll steal it for my next D&D game.

    My Yeoman...concerned about balance

Some of these abilities don't seem balanced with each other - compare Resist Disease with Uncanny Dodge. I can't see a lot of players ever choosing the former, especially as your Yeoman has a high base fort save anyway. Also, most players would choose another new ability rather than just gain...

Good PrC for a Dragon-riding Gnome Wizard

The Loremaster PrC is a possibility - just say that you're interested in ancient dragon lore (10 ranks of Knowledge [history] for the class prereq.) and that the class benefits of Loremaster derive from that. With the feats you've picked you'll probably have something like Wizard 10/Loremaster 2.

    Eberron - Age of Demons

Can't remember where I saw it, but I'm sure that night hags were mentioned as one of the demons of the 'Age of Demons'.

Core Rules Survivor: Round 1 (is over)

Animal companions, paladins warhorses etc are actually necessary if you're going to use mounted combat at higher levels. Who put them on the island of hated rules?

    Agile, "Smart" Fighter Build

Even if you don't use the Bo9S classes, there are feats in there you may find of interest. There's one which is similar to Weapon Finesse but replaces str bonus w/ dex bonus to damage (yes, you can get both). Martial study gives you one manoeuver per combat per feat devoted to it. In the DMG...

    Archer Build

From the ToM, take at least one level in Binder and bind Leraje. She gives a handful of ranged weapon tricks including a free Precise shot feat, +1 to hit with bows and a trick allowing you to shoot 2 targets with one arrow as a standard action. Actually, you could make a decent archer out of a...

Building a pair of ghost assassins

If your players wouldn't be too pissed by this, a barbarian or fighter ghost with improved sunder (& a ghost touch adamantine weapon) can break the biggest dangers to him then chase the spellcasters around the battlefield. You said the setting was lowish magic?

    Feats to Give Sneak Attack?

Those are from the book of 9 swords. They're fine IMO, but note the level requisite. Assassin's Stance is a 3rd level stance, so requires initiator level 5+, so a wizard without martial adept levels must be level 10+ to take it. A wizard using his level 12 feat (& a prereq of 1 lower level feat)...
