    Core Rules Survivor

Save stacking. Why is a 2nd level fighter/2nd level ranger/2nd level barbarian so much more resistant to poison, level loss etc than a 6th level single class? And why are they so much poorer at dodging or resisting charm spells?

Please Help with an Eberron Character Concept and Build

1/ Kalashtar Soulknives get better use from AP if you use Races of Eberron. The concept's similar, but there's some fluff about Soulknives being protectors of the community whereas psychic warriors tend to be those raised apart from the greater Kalashtar community. The feat for Kalashtar...

    Multiple melee attacks after movement?

The Bo9S has several variations on this idea, I think all of them are part of the Tiger Claw discipline.

I'd like to see a dire eagle take off.

An extinct bird in NZ called Haast's eagle would climb trees & launch itself from a branch. Possibly this bird used a similar tactic - launch from a branch or clifftop - to start flying?

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

Thanks, I missed that Restoration feat in the 1st post. It covers the commoner version of the problem (undead level drain), but not the cockatrice-in-the-face problem. Did the latter ever come up for you?

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

I saw this somewhere else, but I think it bears repeating. There need to be counters to some of the nastier conditions out there - even if PCs can't petrify or level drain their enemies, cockatrices & wights are still in the MM. Personally, I hate the MacGuffin answer to this. It's a royal pain...

Give me some pirate ideas to steal!

Binders in the Tome of Magic make a great fantasy voodoo-style magic. They were probably inspired by it, IMO. Sorcerer/Wizard magic quickly becomes dangerous to any campaign using ships in my experience, usually from fireballs or flying. Replace it (e.g. with Binding - see above), alter it or...

Ways to boost DC on Enchantment spells

Binders from the Tome of Magic can bind a vestige which improves all your spell save DCs by 2. It's not a first level vestige though, you'd need some investment in the class to do it.

    One Handed Melee Reach Weapon?

From Secrets of Sarlona, the spinning sword. Visually its a metal whip, mechanically it's a exotic slashing short sword which can strike at 5' or 10'.

Gaining Perform as a class skill

In Eberron, the Greensingers - fey-flavoured druids - can take a feat which gives them bluff & perform as class skills among other things (from the ECS). In the Players' Guide to Eberron there's a 1st level only feat for Aerenal elves which allows them to take one skill and make it a class skill...

Try a +1 merciful greatsword? 3d6 nonlethal damage and all the power attack you like.

    [Bo9S] Archery schools

Just a couple of ideas for more stances & manoeuvres. The dervishes ability to move 5' after each attack could easily be a celestial rain stance if restricted to ranged attacks. This'd be low level, possibly level 1? Also for celestial rain, I have this image of hunting out someone invisible...

    Rogue/Spellthief or Rogue/Beguiler?

Artificers get trapfinding. The Skill Enhancement infusion can more than make up for their lack of social class skills for you, and Personal Weapon Augmentation synergises very nicely with sneak attack. Scrolls and the Spell Storing Item infusion offer any number of low level spellcasting...

    Magic as a skill system

True20 uses this kind of magic system, and True20 looks an awful lot like a bunch of DnD houserules turned into a game. It might be worth taking a look at this rather than reinventing the wheel.

Experiences with Psionics in 3rd (and 3.5) Edition

If a psions main shtick is damage dealing, rather than buffs or save-based effects, the number of combats per day is a poor balancing factor. The psion will do about the same amount of total damage whether nova'ing or not, and the usual result is a player who shines for the first 2-3 combats in...

This bow would be great if I could build some arrows!

Back in AD&D 1st ed, Bowyer/Fletcher was one of the secondary skills you could start with, so there's some precedent for lumping those skills together.

    Fighter with high charisma?

2 levels of warlock sound like they'd suit the character, and well-chosen invocations never get old.
