Best marking & conditions out there

They take a lot of work to assemble, but a while back I picked up Dark Platypus' Action Stands & Status Flag Bars. If you're anything like our group, you'll find you need a lot of them though. I bought two Action Packs and still think I need another set of the magnet bars. They're excellent...

    A Paid Trip to Spellhold [D&D 4e]

Amazed to see Chizz dive overboard, Lochlan grabs one of the floats that Chizz attached to ropes earlier and throws it out to Cliff, readying himself to haul back on either that line or the one Chizz carried, depending on which is easier for Cliff to reach.

    A Paid Trip to Spellhold [D&D 4e]

Doing his best to keep his footing, Lochlan shouts a word of warning to Asterion before a loose line can trip him up "Asterion! You're about to get snagged, watch your feet!" OOC: Three athletics checks at +13, then Perception at +11 to Aid Asterion. Edit: Result of the 3rd Athletics check...

    A Paid Trip to Spellhold [D&D 4e]

Never having been at sea during a storm, Lochlan does his best to stay out of the way, tying himself to a 25' rope anchored at L8, giving him run of the mid-deck.

How would you guys handle this?

I would use a hybrid of NMcCoy's disease track and fate point compel suggestions. Stage 1 Once per day at the DM's discretion, as an Immediate Interrupt the disease makes an attack vs Fort. If the attack hits, the PC is wracked with pain, taking a -4 penalty to any D20 checks made as part of...

    A Paid Trip to Spellhold [D&D 4e]

Up on deck with Kaedyn, Lochlan leans on the rail, staring out over the stormy waters with a pensive look on his face. His father's murder had been avenged, but seeing his murderer slip beneath the waves had not only not brought him peace but had left him somewhat without purpose. Just as...

Well, I did it, got an iPad!

In additon to gaming-centric apps, I'm digging EverNote as a way of getting content onto the iPad. I use one notebook for recipies (iPad makes a great kitchen cookbook. Touchscreen still works when you zip it into a 1gal Ziplock bag to protect it from splashes/spills) and another for gaming...

What does your ENWorld name mean?

Back in the day one of our games featured a wizard/alchemist with a fondness for collecting glassware. I've been using it as a screen name for ages now.

    Blood to Power Rituals

d10/level damage is pretty trivial. Most ritual casters can (mostly) safely soak the damage for rituals up to their level then just spend a short rest. I'd instead bill them 0.5*Level Healing Surges (with sacrificed creatures paying some* of those surges) and have them recover at the rate of...

    A Paid Trip to Spellhold [D&D 4e]

Lochlan: pass/done If I'm reading correctly what's left is: +1 Leather +1 Amulet of Protection +1 Headband of Perception +1 Badge of the Berserker

    A Paid Trip to Spellhold [D&D 4e]

Lochlan - Verve Leather, returns Leather +1 to the pot. Now that I'm geared, I'll update with L4 char sheet.

Immortal Characters (An Extremely Dark Horror Campaign Idea)

You could also make the immortality double-edged. When one of them dies, he is reincarnated by the demon prince and re-aligned with him. The remaining PC's then have to track him, capture him, drag him back to the former wizard's lair and re-brainwash him.

    A Paid Trip to Spellhold [D&D 4e]

OOC: I wasn't backing a roll-off as a literal in character method of loot distribution (it just wouldn't make sense for most of our characters) but rather as an out of character shortcut for what could be a week of negotiation at message-board speed. :) Looks like there's a lot of want for...

Post here when the darksun stuff goes live on DDI

IIRC, updates are published on the 2nd tuesday of the month, so Sept 14 is when we can expect Dark Sun goodies.

    A Paid Trip to Spellhold [D&D 4e]

OOC: To reduce the odds of duplication, I recommend we use d100 Loot Roll: (1d100=97)

    A Paid Trip to Spellhold [D&D 4e]

OOC: D'oh! I'd've acted differently the last couple rounds of combat. Oh well. OOC2: I'm pretty laid back about treasure distribution. I'm happy rolling for pick-order if that's what everyone wants. ~minor retcon~ Lochlan curses as the archer is thrown overboard, disappointed that now he...

    A Paid Trip to Spellhold [D&D 4e]

OOC: I didn't think to ask this during the combat. Was the mysterious archer the man Lochlan has been searching for or is he still at large?

    A Paid Trip to Spellhold [D&D 4e]

Lochlan, HP 22/32, AC 16, F/R/W 14/14/17 OOC: Minor and mostly irrelevant nit: Lochlan doesn't use a Bow, he throws Bolas. :) Now that the archer has been pushed overboard, Lochlan shifts his focus back to Kumar. Standard: Grappling Spirits against Ku @ K8 Attack: (1d20+13=33) Critical Hit...

    A Paid Trip to Spellhold [D&D 4e]

Seeing that Kumar is surrounded, Lochlan helps Chizz with the archer. Standard: Grappling Spirits against E @ R13 Attack: (1d20+13=25) 1) Damage: (1d4+7=10) 2) E is Slowed and cannot shift until the end of Lochlan's next turn.

    Quato!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The most reasonable solution from a balance standpoint is just to make a single Hybrid Barbarian/Bard (or Barbarian/Ardent) and consider the whole two-heads bit as fluff. Or, to reduce MAD, you could go with something like Battlemind/Warlock.
