    A Paid Trip to Spellhold [D&D 4e]

Lochlan, Human Seeker 3 Insight: (1d20+10=29) Seeing the briny halfling, Lochlan immediately surmises something is amiss; something about his story doesn't ring true, and he's got that caught-red-handed look about him. However, even if the halfling is up to no good, Lochlan isn't exactly...

[OOC] A Paid Trip to Spellhold

I think the confusion likely resulted when VV asked me to post rolls, and I put them back in the post that needed them instead of adding a new post.

[OOC] A Paid Trip to Spellhold

Did I miss something? You posted IC that you're waiting on me, but I posted my rolls on Monday

[OOC] A Paid Trip to Spellhold

While not necessarily ideal, I think the multiclass/hybrid system is better than has been available in any edition of D&D. The only major flaw for me right now is that they somehow decided that Bola Training is so powerful that it counts as your multiclass "class". Amusingly, had I gone Bard...

[OOC] A Paid Trip to Spellhold

In our IRL game we've been suprised at just how unimportant CON has become in 4E. In 3/3.5 it was nearly required to have a 14+ CON, but given its reduced impact on HP it just isn't as important as it used to be. Also, I posted the Seeker version of Lochlan yesterday, I just didn't post a note...

[OOC] A Paid Trip to Spellhold

Unfortunately 'Bola Training' counts as a multiclass feat, so I can't do that. But yeah, I'm a big fan of the multiclass feats. :) Fortunately the Seeker has a couple different ways of dealing with being within melee range.

[OOC] A Paid Trip to Spellhold

Being the skill-monkey class Rogue was looking pretty good, but while Rogue has plenty of Ranged Weapon powers, they're limited to Sling & Crossbow. I'm currently rebuilding with Seeker and just burning a feat to get Bluff as Seeker gets Insight and I'm getting Streetwise from my background...

[OOC] A Paid Trip to Spellhold

Huh, I hadn't thought of Seeker, as I was trying to stay in the Leader branch as I had indeed forgotten that we had another bard. I completely agree that from any reasonable standpoint that Bard is the wrong choice for Lochlan, except that all the other leaders are worse. But it was the only...

[OOC] A Paid Trip to Spellhold

Sorry, I wasn't sure if you wanted us to roll or if you were doing the rolls. I'll post the updated char sheet and rolls today. I'm having trouble rebuilding because Bard doesn't have much in the way of Ranged Weapon attacks and Warlord is short both Insight & Bluff as class skills... Edit...

Taxing the Players - making it work in game.

If it's hard to tax the PC's, don't. Just tax everyone the PC's do business with. Start having shopkeepers complain about the new 20% tax on transactions over 500gp and let them pass the tax on to the PC's that way. The PC's might risk alienating the city guard or even the crown; but they...

    A Paid Trip to Spellhold [D&D 4e]

Lochlan nods "Aye, but we've got to find him first. Head to your forge. I'll meet you there once I've found him." Perception: (1d20+5=9, 1d20+5=22) Bluff: (1d20+10=19)

    A Paid Trip to Spellhold [D&D 4e]

Putting aside the issue of the slaves for the moment, Lochlan carries some cargo belowdecks while looking for his quarry.

    Can you miss on purpose?

So, to drag this back on-topic a bit, what about *other* cases where missing might be desirable. Say, Band of Fellows. My warlord would happily miss with this on purpose several rounds in a row when an opponent is surrounded...

If you gaze into the Abyss . . .

Or, instead, at some point the eye stops falling and is found by a demon. Who grafts it into his empty eye socket. Now, through a quirk in the magic, the PC can see everything the demon sees (because the demon is using his eye), but strangely enough, the demon can see everything the PC sees...

    A Paid Trip to Spellhold [D&D 4e]

Lochlan nods, "Yes, thank you Captain. When I came across Asterion here in the market he mentioned that I could crew in exchange for passage."

[OOC] A Paid Trip to Spellhold

Doh! I just realized how hard I failed when I built my character. When building the Ardent I noticed that all the powers were [Weapon] keyworded, which is good. What I didn't notice is that they're all [Melee Weapon] which means my concept ranged support via the Bola completely fails. Voda...

Lochlan, Human Ardent 3 Lochlan nods, and follows the minotaur back to the ship.

The aura should still be Fire damage. You forgot to give the Repair drones any actual Repair ability. :)

    A Paid Trip to Spellhold [D&D 4e]

Lochlan, Human Ardent 3 Lochlan pauses for a second, pondering how much to tell the minotaur, then nods. "That would be most helpful. Do you suspect he'd be aboard now or would there be a better time to catch him? It would be best if he didn't know I was coming. He's a theif and a murderer...

    Clockwork Lumberjack

I didn't really see the minion-spawning as a true in-combat power, but rather as a flavorful method of showing how the infection would spread. But yeah, it could probably use some beefing-up. :) *ponders* If it was recharge-6 it could probably spawn 1d3 minions at no HP cost and not be too...
