    Cloverfield - The Immortal's Handbook 4E to 3.5 Conversion

Hmm... well... size mod is -18. Speed should be (according to v5) around 80 ft. As far as attacks, it has two arms and a head (I'm assuming, from the glimpses I caught in the previews), so it would have two claws and a bite: Claw +xx melee (4d6+21) and bite +xx melee (4d8+10). That'll give...

Just e-mail them to me. I'll PM you.

    Project Phoenix is live!

Never heard of it. The real problem is that I can't get Word to work properly on my computer since I upgraded it - I have to use Wordpad to open my files, which limits my options considerably. I'll check out CutePDF, though.

    Project Phoenix is live!

I'll check it out, thanks. Cool. Someone named Flynn PMed me about a month ago with the same offer; I recently posted some of the Word files for him, but I haven't heard back. You can find them here - just Basics, Equipment, Classes, Exploration, and Skills; the rest of it is misc stuff. RC

    Project Phoenix is live!

I totally forgot to mention that I added the legendary spell creation rules a couple days ago. The spells themselves are mostly done (I've got about 70, between new ones and converted ELH spells); I'm waiting on UK's v6 to finish the ones that rely on summoning monsters.

    Cloverfield - The Immortal's Handbook 4E to 3.5 Conversion

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Still, I've found that basing HD on type instead of a "one size fits all" thing works much better. There are several Medium creatures with more than 3 HD - the medusa, for instance, and the mind flayer, off the top of my head. Yeah, I suppose so. It's not really that...

    Cloverfield - The Immortal's Handbook 4E to 3.5 Conversion

I know how UK's rules work, but if you look through the MM, not all creature types follow that rule. Undead, for instance, have far more HD/size than other creatures. That's why I came up with new guidelines. Anyway, back on topic... 43 feats. Oy. That's why I came up with the rule (well...

    SLAs and integrated spellcasting`

Makes sense to me. What I did with dragons (before coming up with this idea) is bring back the 1E "dragons have a chance of spellcasting" percentage. I also made sorcerers based on bloodlines - fey, elemental, celestial, etc. So, I think what I'll do is combine those: a dragon can have a...

What do you like about 4e?

Ooh, count me for another vote for skill condensation. That's really a no-brainer, though, for anyone who's played 3.5 for more than, oh, a month. (Yeah, I'm being a little sarcastic tonight, sue me. :p) Rituals are a good idea, in theory, but the 4E practice of "Let's make everything that's...

    Cloverfield - The Immortal's Handbook 4E to 3.5 Conversion

I'll try to explain how I got my numbers, though I'm a little fuzzy on the exact details myself, sadly (I played around a bit with this and that, and only afterward thought about documenting it). Basically, I took UK's size guidelines and extrapolated a bit - I found that if we used 1 HD/2...

    A list of useful resources

If you list something, give me a link, please - I'm too lazy to look the stuff up myself. :). Also, the BoXM link above goes to the Collected version - apparently that's the only one available now.

    Cloverfield - The Immortal's Handbook 4E to 3.5 Conversion

Alzrius is going with Magical Beast, not Aberration, and I've come up with a method for determining HD ranges based on size instead of absolute values. So, the 250-ft.-tall magical beast would have 48-192 HD (average 120); an aberration would be 48-288 HD (average 168).

    Cloverfield - The Immortal's Handbook 4E to 3.5 Conversion

A Titanic creature wouldn't have Dex 21. Alzrius is right - 11 is at the upper end of what a creature that size should have. I should, at this point, pause for a moment and state that I've come up with some monster creation guidelines based on the MM monsters, UK's guidelines, and my own...

What do you like about 4e?

I think the mythical "page 42" is the one in the DMG that says "You can do whatever you want" - similar to 1E. As for what I like... at-will cantrips. I don't have a lot of in-depth knowledge of the system (what I saw in the previews, and from skimming the actual books, turned me off to 4E on...

Anyone alive out there? It's been over a week, and no one's posted anything.

    SLAs and integrated spellcasting`

In part, sure. But I also like my rules to have an internal logic. True. Celestials are the only ones who get spellcaster levels. I've always wondered why they were so much more powerful than fiends, beyond discouraging PCs from trying to kill them. Hardly. The SLAs in the MM are fairly...

    SLAs and integrated spellcasting`

What needs to be justified is how a creature has x caster levels in cleric or sorcerer or whatever without having any actual class levels. I rather prefer to know WHY something is, beyond just "Because I said so." Options are great, as long as you don't have too many. If you have a decent list...

What Would Happen If (Almost) Nobody Paid for RPGs?

I dunno. If, all of a sudden, everyone stopped charging for their products, we would almost definitely see an immediate stop to print products - it simply costs too much to do that for free. Online pdfs and netbooks would keep going strong, though the quality would probably take a dip. In the...

    SLAs and integrated spellcasting`

I was thinking much the same thing (ditching innate spellcasting levels). There's no justification for them being there, and most creatures with SLAs get enough of those to make them quite effective anyway. I'm still stuck on the idea of dragons having spellcasting, though. I mean, if I...

Paladin as a template instead of a class

If you want to go the template route, call it something like "favored of the gods" - someone who has led a life of such piety that he gains all those abilities. Leave the HD unchanged, give them the ability to channel divine energy (which grants all turning, lay on hands, etc.), and add that it...
