    D&D 4E My 4e Playtest Comments...

I'm happy to hear that people are enjoying their playtests, but I have one question. I hate playing with miniature et. alia, so I was wondering if anyone has done a playtest sans them? I'd like to hear any such experiences also to see if I can go back to my old style of play.

    D&D 4E 10 Things I Like in 4e

That's what I like to hear. I'm getting my old group together for a play test sometime next month so I'm hoping we enjoy it. I'm one of those crazy people who plans to go to 4E and to Pathfinder. I need a better job. ;)

I don't think the message boards are big enough for your list. ;)

    D&D 4E 10 Things I Like in 4e

Actually that's one of the things that I most don't like. I'm hoping there's some way to avoid it. I think that's the main thing that brings up allusions of boardgames or more truthfully wargames.

    D&D 4E 10 Things I Like in 4e

This one I like, it allows the characters to survive more which is always good, unless they become nigh unkillable. This look good so far but until I actual get some play in I can't judge. I do like the return to real numbers. The CR thing was too esoteric for me. Not a big fan of this...

    missing skills

I just have to mention to the OP how much I agree with him. I loved filling my characters with various crafts, professions, and knowledge skills. It made them feel more 3 dimensional to me. The idea now I think is that the PCs are Big Dang Heroes and they don't need concern themselves with...

D&D 4E Keith Baker on 4E! (The Hellcow responds!)

Or behind. I kept doing things like I did when I DM'd 1st and 2nd Edition. Maybe I've been doing it wrong this whole time, but I don't feel like I need to figure out how an NPC has x, I just give them x unless they are important enough to stat out. If this is something that 4E is returning to...

D&D 4E Keith Baker on 4E! (The Hellcow responds!)

Maybe since even in 3E I just made the NPCs do what I wanted to do, and the monsters too I didn't realize that was such a big deal. It seems that in doing that part of 3E wrong I've been doing part of the 4E philosophy all along. That is something I agree with, why bother with stats you'll...

    Whither OotS?

I really hated what I've seen of the Warlord so far, but this could change my mind. You, Sir, are a genius.

WOTC, Scott, Where in the World is the GSL

I'm the opposite. Paizo not moving to 4th Edition is really putting some pressure on my decision to move to that edition at all. Paizo are more in line with my style of play, and I'll stick with them.

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo Annoucement!

See, this is where I disagree. WoTC has the superior position of owning the D&D name and they are using it on 4th Edition. That means that what they say is D&D is D&D, even if it isn't. I don't think 4th Edition really is, I think it is much more its own game and if it wasn't for the...

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo Annoucement!

I noticed that and wasn't happy. At least I'll have a chance to really digest 4th Edition in that time and give it the proper screed that it deserves.

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo Annoucement!

I decided to avoid the video game meme, it's so played out.

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo Annoucement!

I think you're making too much of an assumption that such a thing could be done under the GSL anyway. I'm willing to bet that the GSL is so locked down that doing more than a campaign setting / module will be impossible.

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo Annoucement!

No, 4E is a medieval veneer on a superhero game. The characters are, by virtue of being characters, more powerful than anything but the card-board cut-outs called monsters. 3.5 might not be great, but at least it fits my idea of D&D. I can't say 4th does that. As to the point of the thread...

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo being mysterious

I think their web-site has finally just given up the ghost. Maybe they can upgrade their software to something that doesn't run on MS-DOS 3.1. ;)

    Power Source / Role Query

Duh. I guess I didn't search well enough. As an additional question to make this thread worth while and still within the realm of the topic, has there been any indication on the mechanics of Power Sources and maybe how to make our own?

    Power Source / Role Query

As it appears now, each Power Source has one of each Role attached to it. I was wondering if there was a possibility of multiple roles tied to one power source, i.e. Two separate Martial Striker classes. If this is already answered, could someone guide me there. I did a search but didn't find it.

4e rules will make some games much harder to run

I know that is the stock response but I never even felt the mechanical need for miniatures until 3rd Edition. I think that as a logical off-shoot of Chainmail, miniatures were helpful but not necessary in the earlier versions.
