I'm personally using a world I built a while back but never used. Basically it was a long-lived kingdom of various sorts, reaching its golden-aged zenith centuries before the game starts. Something (that's for the DM to know ;) ) caused massive armies of fiends and humanoids to boil forth and...
I'm sorry, but these names are AWFUL. I mean it that way too. They are so bad they require capitalization. I'm sure this is going to really stop the MMORPG comparisons, since these sound like a direct port. Oh well, more things I need to change.
But why? When you're playing the game you never look at the cover. When you're reading the book you never look at the cover. Many books have bad covers, but pasting over them is just an over-reaction to me. I don't like the cover, but to adjust the old saying a bit, I'm more concerned about...
I was wondering that too, but the player levels aren't revealed. It could very well be that there were two challenging encounters for just on the cusp of Paragon level characters. I'd like to know more.
Now I remember what I really didn't like about the new edition. I really, really don't like how this delve system. It makes me think of set piece battles, with the only randomization written in: on a 6 there are reinforcements. I think this is the thing people mean when they say the game is...
Ok, I'm already wrong. Actually the cover I liked the best was the 3.x edition tome-like look. Again, probably just me. I hope you do get a good cover though, I don't like the one presented either.
Sorry about that. Just a playful jibe back at you. More to the point of the thread, I remember you redid the Ultima world, how did you deal with Alignment there?
Another point I'd like to make. How many people who are already fans of D&D are going to even care what the cover looks like. I don't know if I've looked at the covers of any of my books that seriously over the years; I'm more interested in what was inside. For people new to the hobby this...
I have to agree with Steely Dan here. I was already reading Savage Sword of Conan before I finally managed to get gaming stuff. So any fantasy trope on the cover was fairly innocuous to my parents. They were more worried about me becoming a devil-worshipper (seriously). Luckily, my love of...
That's a great story, Wormwood, and I agree with you. I've found that if you want to introduce people to RPGs in general or D&D in particular not much beats the old classic BECMI. I might give this a try with my own nephew, you've inspired me!
