4th ed, the Good & the Bad?

I think other posts above have really said what I've been feeling these last few weeks. I never play characters built with an eye toward combat, except for my fighters. Even then the last fighter I played had the main goal of getting as rich as possible to help save his hometown from poverty...

D&D 4E Preparing for 4e - What campaign will you run?

I'm starting a new campaign in my homebrew. Moving to a part of the world that I previously left empty to help explain some of the differences. I am already trying to figure out how to fit the new stuff I've read about into it. The main fun for me is the world-building, so I enjoy this.

D&D 4E 4E Halflings unrecognizable from Tolkien hobbits

Heck, for an actual D&D example, we have the Rhenee in Greyhawk. They also are a surly and suspicious lot, so we get the most negative gypsy stereotypes right out of the way.

D&D 4E 4E Halflings unrecognizable from Tolkien hobbits

I personally love the Tolkeinized hobbit and will continue to have a place for them in all of my game-worlds. The new halflings I'm not too sure of, as I already have a group that serves the same role, but if I need to add them I could. I don't get the hobbit-hate, as a player of LOTRO, I can...

So, who is excited about the new Traveller RPG?

I am. I'm really excited to see what they do with it.

D&D 4E 4e Races and Classes: "Why we changed the gods"

The most fun I ever had was as a Cleric/Fighter of Chautea, the Goddess of Agriculture in the Forgotten Realms. I basically acted as a protector to the local farming village. I'd go out and fight orcs when they threatened and bless crops, marriages, and farm implements when there wasn't much...

D&D 4E Would you buy and play a new campaign setting for 4e?

Where's the option for "I'm a sucker for campaign settings and would probably buy from all sources above." That's where I fit in. I love books, I love maps, I have many campaign settings I've never used just to enjoy them.

    Dungeons, Dragons, and Demographics

I started with the Red Box, which was quite enjoyable. I still break out the old Keep on the Borderlands and update it for the next editions. I am 35 and I think I've finally been won over with 4e. My biggest problem was how much change would effect my home-brew, but it looks like it won't be...

Just got the WotC 2008 Summer Catalog

I'm really liking what I see for the Star Wars products, and everything is about what I expected. Looking forward to next year, now if I can only get a printed Dragon or Dungeon back I could be happy again. ;)

    Give me choices!

I just flew here from Greyhawk and boy are my arms tired. So, anyone hear about this Vecna, sounds like less a lich and more like an organ donor gone wrong. Is this thing on? Be sure to tip your barmaids!

Let's Hear it for Wizard in Armor!

I always thought of the Melniboneans as sort of Elvish, which means that they can already cast spells in armor (if we go back to OD&D Elves at least). ;)

Let's Hear it for Wizard in Armor!

This one is taken directly from history. In fact one of William the Conquerors companions was a Bishop who acted like a knight in full armor except he had to use a mace since clergy weren't allowed to draw blood. Since I'm a bit of a Medievalist myself, I like the way the Clerics are presented...

    Defining its own Mythology

As a LONG time Greyhawk and FR fan (yes, you can love both) I have to agree with you. FR really shows how you can integrate new and different ideas into a game world, and it does it well. Still, Greyhawk will always have a warm spot in my heart, since it was my first game world, and I think...

    Give me choices!

That's very close to my game world actually. My gnomes and elves are both descendants from the original fey race, but the elves were lost to war and pride. The gnomes on the other hand remain the keepers of the old truths of the world. In fact their trickster ways and humor are because of the...

    As Editions progress, are homebrews...

I had seen that, I just wasn't sure it would be as complete as the races in the PHB would be. I hope your reading is indeed the correct one.
