Do you think the OGL was a good idea?

I think it was perfectly fine. I don't own one, but I've read it. No big deal. It probably caused a big reaction among certain groups of people, or among D&D players who are afraid of how they are perceived by said people, but there wasn't anything wrong with the book itself. Just as with other...

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

It isn't. There's obviously a long and odious line of posts that follow this topic, but the gist of it was this: It starts off with some statements about how wizards are amazing essentially because they can use scrolls to always have a perfect spell for the situation. Beyond this being a...

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

It's also full of things that are not actual problems with Pathfinder, some of which carry more that a little edition warr-y glint, which has subverted what the OP was asking.

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

Indeed. You can start right in the PHBI with the fighter power that allows them to do triple (or 3[W], or whatever) damage once a day. In every relevant sense, this is a magical ability. In a previous edition, it would have been referred to as a smite attack and been given appropriate mechanical...

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

That appears to be exactly what this text is saying, since it is directly comparing those things to arcane formulas and prayers, which are. In real life, the strength and willpower and stuff are not magical, nor is anything else, because magic is not real. In 4e, pretty much everything can be...

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

That was my point. The text is certainly not saying "the martial power source is not magic in any way, shape, or form". It's saying that it isn't magic in the particular shape or form that is termed "traditional".

Assuming the party faces a variety of situations, they will be less well off in a few that specifically involve the rogue. The abilities to use stealth, use other skills, evade area damage, and backstab are all unlimited; whereas any character that lacks them and is trying to patch those areas...

    Pathfinder 1E Warlock Questions

Saelorn You are right in that the text of this warlock is contradictory. There is nothing in the arcane schools that would cause a spell failure chance to apply to its supernatural abilities, but the armor class feature assumes that it does. This presumably just bad writing; it would seem the...

GAME OF THRONES #4:Oathkeeper ACT 43 Chapter 4-2014

Legally, there are probably some limitations in place to protect child actors, but a kiss is definitely not out of the questions. I remember reading some very interesting stuff about what a thorny area this was when Lolita (the recent-ish) version was being filmed. Regardless of what physical...

    Pathfinder 1E Warlock Questions

Your text is black, which for most of us means that it displays on a black background and therefore is illegible (I had to highlight it to read it). Something people sometimes do accidentally here at ENW; just an FYI. Also, since you probably can't post links yet, this is the link. *** To the...

Beyond the simple question of matching the spell to the situation, there's also issues of analysis paralysis and second guessing that are routine to playing a wizard. Memorizing spells well is fairly difficult, psychologically.

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

Yes. For the wizard to do this comes with an opportunity cost and incrementally reduced effectiveness, but sure. Particularly with PF's more open skill system, it's possible for pretty much anyone to cover another role; and you can create a functional party pretty much any way you want. It's...

Giving a PC a flaw at every level..good idea or bad idea?

The OP noted that the power up was an intentional consequence of dealing with the demon and suggested some of the in-world implications. Also, having the DM pick the flaw clamps down on one half of the min/max equation.

Giving a PC a flaw at every level..good idea or bad idea?

I think the corruption system presented in Heroes of Horror would be a slightly better fit. It works similarly; trade various penalties for bonus feats, but the penalties are closer to what you'd expect flavor-wise.

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

The split between monstrous humanoid and humanoid is an odd one; some from the latter group really aren't that monstrous. And, as you note, wide differences between the utility of monster HD are somewhat odd. Could we, hypothetically, fix all the monster types so their levels are all of equal...

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

Of course it does. Which makes the whole "challenges are trivial to a wizard" line even more ludicrous. There are probably some situations that favor the class, but also some that don't.

    Banned for life

Exactly. If the league wanted to, it could fine/suspend its members for even non-criminal acts that are deemed to be against league policy. Sport leagues do that all the time.

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

True, but how much do you really need? Ranger of course is a very nice class; probably the most popular through my entire 3e experience (and PF upgrades it); pretty viable cover for a fighter and a rogue. But yes, some full BAB, high-HD character is very important. Yeah. The biggest thing I...

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

I don't know about that. Of course, PF has two alt-clerics (druid and oracle) who are reasonably apt substitute. But even barring that, you've got other casters with healing (witch, bard, even the tertiary casters can do a decent job) and UMD/CLW combos. The healing part is very replaceable; the...

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

With a rogue, you'd lose out on stealth an perception, meaning you'd have no scout and be vulnerable to attack. You'd also be down some nice damage on occasion, and your party wouldn't have the handy ability to evade area attacks. If you were in a situation with traps and secret doors and that...
