    Back to basics

Why not just say, "This week we're starting something new: Core Only*!" I honestly think the game is better when played like this, with special exceptions made for certain feats or spells from splatbooks. *Core only her means PHB races, not anything you can find in the MM.

    Lorwyn Elves: Comments, Suggestions?

I agree. The DR/Cold Iron is basically like DR/- so it has to start small and increase over time. You'll have to give up something from the standard elf, though. Perhaps the speed and increase and proficiencies?

New wizard necromancer variant the geneticist.

The reason the wizard gets 2 skill points is because they have such high intelligence that they will get like a million skill points per level if they had 4/level. I would suggest lowering skills to 2+Int.

    Lorwyn Elves: Comments, Suggestions?

I agree with Nifft about the mental stats. The penalty to Int does not balance the bonus to Cha because a sorc gains a great advantage having the extra charisma but suffers no real drawback for the Int penalty, except for 1 less skill point. Using standard point-buy rules, you can get to 16...

    Lorwyn Elves: Comments, Suggestions?

This didn't come out right. I was referring to the race as posted by the OP, not my suggestion. In general, I think that inherent increases to primary casting stats are much more powerful than increases to physical stats. These increases also tend to pigeon-hole races into a particular class...

    Lorwyn Elves: Comments, Suggestions?

I can't think of any Corse races that give a bonus to Charisma without at least +1 LA. The benefit to sorcs, bards, and fey druids is too big to be LA +0, espcially with all those proficiencies. The Damage Reduction pushes it over the edge. At low levels this race would be completely...

Need a good melee char-must be old!

If psionics and ToB are availible, a Swordsage/Psychic Warrior would be straight pimpin'. Pump up your Wisdom and get AC bonus with the Swordsage and can use psionics to increase AC. Deep Impact and Diamond Mind Manuevers will get you melee hits as touch attacks, which will counteract the...

    Most powerful feat ever?

Seriously, Vow of Poverty has got to be at the top of the list. This feat actually gives you bonus feats. 'Nuff said.

    Awakened Wolf

Swordsage is in the Tome of Battle, aka Book of Nine Swords.

    Real Bardic Music

I'm making a new D&D character--a gnome bard. IRL I play guitar quite well and can sing decently. I was thinking of ways to incorporate music at the table both to assist in role-playing and to liven the game up a bit. Eventually I hope to write some poems and songs that incorporate facts...

    Master Spellthief

I recently got my hands on Complete Scoundrel and saw this feat. Basically it allows you to count spellthief levels as arcane caster levels and vice versa for the low cost of one feat. It seems like one could take three levels of wizard (or wu ren or whatever), then start taking levels of...

    Game in South Austin

I'm looking for a D&D v3.5 game in Austin. I live South so that would be preferable, but I can drive wherever if I need to. I would like to find a group that meets every other week for short adventures and rotates DMs. That way we can try whatever crazy ideas we can come up with and...

    What's the color of Sonic?

When you listed the options, my first thought was orange. I wonder if there is some precedent or this... Regardless, orange works fine and seems natural for some reason.

    Building a Monk

So when y'all have played monks before, have you focused on making you Stunning Fist stronger--Ability Focus, Rapid Stunning, Extra Stunning? Have you focused on defensive things like Combat expertise? Or things that will make your regular attacks better--power attack, then some of the OA/CW...

    Building a Monk

A Half-giant has the unarmed strike damage of a Large monk, right? In that case, taking Improved Natural Attack would give you the damage of a Huge monk. That sounds nice. That would leave open the psionic unarmed attack feats (anyone know about these? are they worth investing a feat?) and...

    Probably level 5. 32 point-buy.

Oh, I have OA, as well. That might be useful.

    Building a Monk

I'm working on a combat-oriented monk build and would like your input: Unarmed strike and a quaterstaff will be the only weapons for flavor reasons. Short of having a godly strength score, how can I hit frequently and with power? I'm thinking Stunning Fist, Power Attack, and Improved...
