    Ugly Half-Orc Backstory

He'd almost have to be. He mentioned a long time ago that he was freelancing on a WotC project that he couldn't name due to NDA, and since his name hasn't appeared on anything yet, it has to be a 4e product. I had always assumed that OotS wouldn't make the shift to 4e (mainly because of Elan)...

And this "Skill Focus" you speak of comes from where? At DDXP, I was told that, unlike SWSE, "Focused" in a skill does not exist.

Need WOTC Offical to deal with the half-elf pregen/Keep of Shadowfell before release.

We also know that WotC acknowledged the half-elf to be the worst 3e race, and they'd take measures to correct that. Since all races have racial feats, and feats should be balanced with one another, the half-elf needs cool features, too. Besides, I ran my "Tira has Ray of Frost because she's a...

The level 2 elf archer has +11 initiative. No way in hell that can be derived from anything. It's a little different. The old phrasing made them immune to damage from auras or Divine Challenge; the new one does not. I actually really like that. Kobolds start at level 1, goblins at level 2...

Woohoo, spoiler! Longspears exist. I've been trying to justify building an eladrin spear-fighter/wizard as one of my two RPGA characters, but the more I read, an eladrin spear-warlord/wizard just looks so much cooler... but the other character I really want to play is a cleric, and the whole...

Warlord At-Will Powers level 1 via June Preview

Or rather: Fictional Warlord Attack 2 At-Will Martial, Weapon Standard Action :melee: Target: One creature Attack: STR vs. AC Hit: 1[W] + STR damage, and an ally may make a basic melee attack against your target, dealing their basic attack damage + your Intelligence modifier. Special: Damage...

Or be an elf, and save Elven Accuracy for when it really counts. An elven kensei can potentially reroll one important attack twice!

Oh, one other thing: those DCs are pretty steep! Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Perception always use a static Take 10? Or is that only against Stealth? If it's a Take 10, then to reach the DC 27 to spot the control panel on the Whirling Blades trap, you need a +17, even a trained elf...

Because the one check disables one jet only--and you have to be standing in its range to try it. Disabling the control panel turns the whole thing off (especially good for the elite version) and you can do it from safety. My unanswered questions: - As others have asked, how long does a skill...

SA would work on a basic attack, but to a maximum of once a round. But I do really like the idea of moving into a flanking position, then giving the sneak attack to the rogue.

I'm not too crazy about the fact that the skirmisher, which is supposedly a ranged specialist, is better in melee than at range (better attack bonus, damage, and can use Warrior's Surge).

    Best class/role for solo play

I agree that defenders take the biggest hit in small parties, followed by controllers; strikers get the biggest benefit. Leaders are a mixed bag--healing gets better, their other stuff gets worse.

    Paladins mark "fix" a plazebo?

In fact, it applies even better now than it did then. At DDXP, the paladin found it to be in his best interests, in all situations, to mark and run. I played the Delve with a bunch of DMs, and they told me flat-out that that's the "correct" strategy to use. That paladin had no ranged...

so who else wil also be going for the deluxe edition ?

Considering that I'm growing less and less confident that the RAW will properly reflect RAI, I'm thinking yeah, they may need a revision. And even then, I'm hoping the #*&^ "pay for errata" policy will have been buried in an unmarked grave.

    D&D 4E 4E PrRC ~v2.7~ FINAL UPDATE May 29.08

Another correction: you have a Target entry for the Justiciar's Strike Me Instead. There shouldn't be one (and it doesn't even make sense).

Paladin is more of a striker?

Let's say [W] is 1d10, being generous. And let's give this sample paladin an 18 Str and a 14 Dex. 2[W]+Str comes out to an average of 15 damage. A longbow shot from this guy does an average of 7.5 damage, for a total of 15.5 damage if they take 8 from Divine Challenge. And while the bow shot...

    Keep on the Shadowfell preview

The Justiciar's "Strike Me Instead" does almost exactly that: the attack automatically hits you, but misses all of your allies that would have been struck.

No small weapons - I'm okay with this

According to the article, "small" only applies to two-handed and versatile weapons, not off-hand weapons. If a short sword is off-hand for a medium-sized character, it's off-hand for a small-sized one.
