Cure Disease will KILL YOU TO DEATH!

Back to the days when Teleport could end up fusing you with the ground again? Or just dropping you from 100 feet up?

Really, No PC Gnomes! Stop Asking!

It did, I think. And in fact, a character with a Str that low was restricted to being a member of only one class. I forget which one--an Int below 5 made you a Fighter, a Con below 5 made you an Illusionist, a Dex below 5 made you a Cleric... I think Wis and Str were Thief and Assassin (not...

A party of Two Strikers: How do I do this?

The issue is that fights are going to be swingy. If they get a bad streak of luck, or the monsters a good one, they'll get torn to shreds. This is what happens with glass cannons. To balance that out, I'd go with more monsters of somewhat lower level than them, or with minions. Elites are...

Irongorn, the Heavy Ranger (ranger/pit fighter)

Nice. I'm not convinced all that works exactly by RAW (e.g. Deadly Payback mentions being hit, not taking damage, in your blurb), but I'll likely be stealing some of that. I have a minotaur ranger building in the back of my head... and it ain't pretty.

    Core Handbook Errors Discussion

Ouch. That's one heck of a nerf. +1d6 damage for one attack? My cleric/ranger character concept is looking worse and worse....

    Monster names?

That would be Smash Zombie. Besides, since the only place Zombie Smash appears is in the Zombie Hulk's stat block, the risk of confusion is pretty small.

    An Example Character, Levels 1-30

Hmm... so warlocks, especially star pact warlocks, are kind of anti-defenders. A paladin/warlock looks like it has some very interesting possibilities.

    Core Handbook Errors Discussion

You're thinking Blast. Take a look at the PrRC for diagrams. Basically, the number is the radius for Bursts but the diameter for Blasts.

    Greatsword is dead!

How about swords that do 2dX? They'd be awfully handy for those exploding vorpal weapons. Although a vorpal greataxe isn't half bad.

    Monster names?

"Thunderwrack Titan" "Nightwarped Creeper" "Ghostmaw Racer" "Blackfire Racer" Took me 4 tries to get a name I didn't think was absolutely awful. And that's not counting possibilities like "Doomdoom Wurm" or "Grimrake Foamer." WotC isn't that awful.

    Everyone is a cleric!

Disagree. Paladins are barely mediocre at healing other people; warlords are much better but still not as good as a cleric. Warlord powers focus more on tactical advantages, while cleric powers grant more numerical advantages. Both warlords and clerics can use their healing powers...

    D&D 4E 4E PrRC ~v2.7~ FINAL UPDATE May 29.08

It has become the official prerelease tool for the DMs of my local Game Day event and its associated Meetup group. And, if I do end up going with a tiefling paladin/wizard as one of my first RPGA characters (nothing's set in stone until I see the books), his name sill be Arkon.

    Greatsword is dead!

Ah, but remember that since 3e, bastard sword=katana. And as everyone knows, katanas have been grossly underpowered, and ought to be +3/3d10, high crit, and vorpal. Seriously, it works from a balance perspective, although I disagree with the nomenclature. Needing a feat to use a...

The pendulum swings back: Humans suck once again

Hmm... in that case, human warlocks might actually be a really good idea. A Fey Pact warlock, for instance, is forced to take Eyebite (from what folks have posted) and really ought to take Eldritch Blast, but a human could also take the at-will for one of the other two pacts. Only a human will...

    Rituals

I'd take that bet, against you. Most "evil" rituals are going to happen off-camera, so they can easily be hand-waved. The only way they'll interact with the PCs directly is if they find a book containing the ritual the necromancer used. If they won't use it themselves, it's just a...

    Mounted combat is the weird

Ehh? First house rule. That or give 'em dinosaurs. Oh, wait, we don't have any dinosaurs of an appropriate size yet.

    D&D 4E I have 4e but there's a catch...

My Google-Fu is weak. I can't find them. It doesn't help that every time I start, I get wracked with guilt before I can put a solid effort into it. Hurry up and ship, Amazon. If I get it early, I promise I won't tell.

The pendulum swings back: Humans suck once again

Actually, I think wizards are one of the best examples of how this is useful. You take Magic Missile (a basic ranged attack with great distance and good damage), Scorching Burst (your basic ranged AoE) and either Thunderlance (for when you're cornered) or Cloud of Daggers (haven't seen it, so...

I also have the books [merged] (info on upcomming Power sources and more)

Not quite, from what I've seen so far. - Ranger chooses one of two primary abilities (Str and Dex), and has one secondary ability (Wis). - Warlock chooses one or both of two primary abilities (Con and Cha), and has one secondary ability (Int). - Paladin has at least one primary ability, but...
