I think you did great! Variant human is a great choice. The +2 to ranged attacks really helps out with the -5 to attacks from Sharpshooter. Just concentrate on maxing Dex ASAP and you'll be fine. I think Darkvision is the only thing you're really missing, but I wouldn't stress about it...

Abjuration is an excellent choice on it's own, but I think it'd even be better having many different DMs because you get to repeatedly shut down all their enemy casters all the time lol

I wholeheartedly recommend you stick to single class Paladin. The 5e Paladin is just really REALLY strong on it's own. You'll get something great at pretty much every level all the way up to a Capstone that ranges from really good to damn near broken depending on which Oath you choose.

I hate feat tax but I think every Fighter should take Ritual Caster and/or Magic Initiate at some point to help give them more to do outside of combat.

When I said infinite riposte, I just meant that you could use your reaction every round to do it with no limit to how many times per day, not that you got infinite reactions. It's still too powerful IMO even without the other 2 points.

To best fit your theme, I say go for a Barbarian or Monk. But yeah if you're looking to BEST fill the gap then a Light armor Cleric, Paladin, or Bard would be best. Bard or Paladin would fill the healer role as well as the face role.

A feat that grants infinite riposte is too strong. Even without the other features. Every Rogue would take it asap and would be irresponsible not to.

Yes. The resistance to ALL spell damage is still huge, even for a Gnome. Yep and it's a 45hp that you can literally replenish just by doing Wizard stuff. Most of your best most spammable spells are going to keep it filled.

I agree. Signature spell should have been at-will, but I guess then the Abjurer with Counterspell and/or Detect Magic would break the game in half. Getting permanent at-will Shield at level 18 is much better than 2 additional 3rd level slots.

For heavy armor(plate) you're going to either have to be dwarf or have a 15 Str which is going to eat up your point buy in an otherwise useless stat for you. I'd rather go with Half-Plate or even light armor + shield. We definitely need more info to better answer you though.
