D&D 5E (2014) Just how long is the D&D Pike supposed to be?

I wish the Flail, War Pick, and Morningstar would get more love. One of my players currently has a character in a different campaign that uses a Flail exclusively so it is relatively common to a few of us. I've considered using a magic net, but I'm not sure how to enhance it make it not...

D&D 5E (2014) Just how long is the D&D Pike supposed to be?

The reason I'm asking about the Pike is that I intend for the first few magic weapons found in my campaign to be weapons that normally would not get used on purpose haha I feel it's kind of a fun way to mess with my players and I get bored of the same 7-8 weapons getting used over and over...

D&D 5E (2014) Just how long is the D&D Pike supposed to be?

Would 12ft be reasonable? How about 15ft?

D&D 5E (2014) Just how long is the D&D Pike supposed to be?

I've read they can be as long as 25ft!!! That's just crazy. Surely they're not THAT long. That would not make for a very effective weapon. Also, they do not have the disadvantage at 5ft rule that the Lance has.

    D&D 5E (2014) Re-Revised Ranger

I like it except for the complete removal of Colossus Slayer and Horde Breaker.

D&D 5E (2014) How would my group fight a Poltergeist?

It clearly states in the Monster Manual on page 279 that the poltergeist is invisible and does NOT have the life drain ability. It has an AC of 12 and 22hp. Listed as a CR2. Yes I know it's going to be tough for the party, but I don't think it will be impossible. It's slam does 3d6 and would...

D&D 5E (2014) How would my group fight a Poltergeist?

I'm wanting to use the Specter Variant from the MM page 279 which is completely invisible. I've already had the Poltergeist harassing the party as they make their way through the dungeon but it has not outright attacked them yet. I kind of at a loss as to how they can even identify it much less...

D&D 5E (2014) [5e] Melee Tempest Cleric: STR or DEX?

I'm curious why you started with Fighter. What Fighting style did you choose? I don't see you making many melee weapon attacks at lvl 17 to be honest. Even your upcasted low level spells would be better.

    D&D 5E (2014) Sorcerer vs Warlock

I think the Sorcerers and Wizards should be the only true full casters in the game. I think the Cleric/Druid/Bard should be 3/4 casters and the Warlock should be a 1/2 caster like the Paladin/EK/Ranger.

D&D 5E (2014) Help with a Barbarian Multiclass build with Fighter

You have to actually wear armor to get the Defensive fighting style's +1 to AC so it won't help you. I would stay on the Barb path if it were me. I would want my Str at 20 asap. THEN I might consider taking some Fighter levels if you're still interested.

D&D 5E (2014) [5e] Melee Tempest Cleric: STR or DEX?

Are you rolling stats, point buy, or array? I would prefer Str with heavy armor and shield, but if you HAVE to go High Elf, stick with Dex unless you roll for stats and get some good rolls. The Tempest Cleric is a good melee character for obvious reasons. I don't think you NEED a feat to stay...

D&D 5E (2014) Is the Wild magic Sorcerer as terrible as it seems?

Ok it has been 7 months since I made this post and I think I can definitively say that the Wild Magic Sorcerer is *NOT* as bad as I thought it was. Making this thread helped me realize how poorly the character was being played and we had a little talk with the DM about how it's features were...

D&D 5E (2014) Assuming no GWM/SS, are different fighting styles roughly balanced?

Are we strictly talking about Fighting Styles? If so, I think the Archery's +2 to attacks is probably the strongest. It is especially awesome at low levels since it literally doubles your proficiency bonus to attack. The Two Weapon Fighting style is most damaging at low levels(1-4) and hangs...

D&D 5E (2014) Simple Suggestion to improve champion fighter.

I really think the Deep Stalker Ranger's Stalker's Flurry feature would be a great fit for the Champion. I'm not sure what level I would grant it though. I also think the Champion should have more ways to gain advantage or impose disadvantage. It makes sense as they're supposed to be the...

    D&D 5E (2014) A Party of One Class

I have seen a party of nothing but Fighters and the class is versatile enough to work if done right. There was an archer, a GWF, a TWF, a S&B, and an Eldritch Knight. 2 were Champions and 2 were Battle Masters. it worked. I think a party of Paladins would be the BEST as in most successful at...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sword and Board?

Yeah I misread and thought you had just taken the Polearm feat. My bad. Longsword is a very strong weapon with or without a shield. I'm a huge fan of the Dueling Fighting style, but like I said, it's still a 1d10 weapon in 2 hands even if you forget the shield. I would hold onto it. You'll...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sword and Board?

I wouldn't let finding a magic weapon change your entire character scheme. If you are a Polearm Master and especially if you took the Polearm master feat, you should stick with that. Keep the Longsword so you could use it if needed against an enemy that may be immune to no magical attacks. It is...

    D&D 5E (2014) Rogue (11) Multiclass options

Yep take 4 more levels of fighter in a row to get the 2nd attack asap

    D&D 5E (2014) Great Weapon Ranger

I think Rangers make great GWF. I'd take defense too even as a fighter as I do not really care for the GWF fighting style. Deep Stalker is great. Stalker's Flurry is especially strong for a GWM. I do prefer Hunter though. Horde Breaker is at it's best as a GWM, and even though it would be kinda...
