    D&D 5E (2014) Building a better Sorcerer

Let's see...... how about a d12 hit die and heavy armor proficiency??? Pretty please? ;)

    D&D 5E (2014) Doppelganger question

If a Doppelganger kidnaps a Wizard, assumes it's form, and has it's spellbook, can it cast the wizard's spells? I'm thinking no, but figured I would ask anyway.

D&D 5E (2014) What does it mean to you for a character/class to be "good in melee"?

I feel like all of the heavy armor Clerics do well in melee given all they have to offer besides striking damage. Assuming the character is played correctly of course.

D&D 5E (2014) What does it mean to you for a character/class to be "good in melee"?

This was brought up in my thread about Tempest Clerics and I'm just curious what people consider to be "good at melee" or "good in melee" To me, melee is more than JUST damage per weapon attack. It's being able to take some hits. It's being able to stay down on the front line and still...

D&D 5E (2014) Tempest Cleric seems VERY strong

I'm curious as to what people are considering "good" at melee. I think I'm gonna start a thread about it, I think the War and Tempest, and even the Life Cleric to an extent, are GOOD at melee.

D&D 5E (2014) Tempest Cleric seems VERY strong

Yeah I'm wondering what I'm missing with the Light and Nature domains. I'm really familiar with the War, Life, Death, and Tempest, but not the others.

D&D 5E (2014) Tempest Cleric seems VERY strong

I realize that the melee focused Tempest Cleric is not the bestest most optimized way to play it, but it has still worked out for what I set out to do. I think that's another nod to the Cleric's versatility. Again, at the lowers levels, it has not been in any way noticeable. Sure at 5th level...

D&D 5E (2014) Tempest Cleric seems VERY strong

I just wanted to share my experiences playing a Tempest Cleric from level 1-6. For starters, I was last to join a group and I was asked by the DM to be a Cleric. I did not have a problem with his request because I'm been anxious to play a Cleric anyway. I looked at the party makeup of a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Human Revenant question

I would personally just add a +1 to Con on top of the regular Human stat boosts. It makes sense to me.

    D&D 5E (2014) Battlemaster Monk idea

I think a Monk with full access to the combat maneuvers would make for a really fun character. The idea was simple. At level 3, you gain the Way of the Battle Master tradition. At first, I was thinking about just completely copying and pasting the Fighter's Combat Superiority right out of the...

    D&D 5E (2014) A Wizard without a spell book...........

I'm setting this up now. I can do whatever I need to do as far as the spellbook goes. I assume he had one and it was taken from him when he got caught.

    D&D 5E (2014) A Wizard without a spell book...........

Yeah they'll only be unarmed to start. They'll be able to get the usual equipment after they break out. Level 1 goes by so quickly, "breaking out" may be the entire level and they'd reach level 2 upon completion.

    D&D 5E (2014) A Wizard without a spell book...........

If I need to let him have an arcane focus, I can. That's what I'm trying to figure out. I'm ok with him being extremely limited, as they all will be. I just don't want him to be totally useless in the first encounter or two.

    D&D 5E (2014) A Wizard without a spell book...........

So I'm really not that familiar with Wizards. I've actually never played one in any edition I don't think. Anyway, I'm about to start a new campaign and I want to start the characters off unarmed and in a prison camp of some sort. I guess my question is, what can an unarmed Wizard do...

    D&D 5E (2014) Low Charisma Lore Bard?

This character has 18 Dex and Con. When we random rolled, we did not take account for the 4 additional UA colleges so we're likely going to reroll. I agree Valor or Swords would be much better given the stat layout. But such is the life of random characters. We'll have an 8 Con Paladin, a...

D&D 5E (2014) The classes that nobody wants to play

I very much enjoy my Long Death Monk. He particularly excels in combat. I play him as socially awkward on purpose so he's fun in cities and towns too. I think more people should give them a chance.

D&D 5E (2014) The classes that nobody wants to play

Hmm... I disagree. I think Fighters make good fighters. :D

D&D 5E (2014) The classes that nobody wants to play

I have never been in a 5e campaign with a Druid, Warlock, or a Wizard at least so far. I'm about to play a Wizard out of curiosity. I think Fighter, Cleric, and Paladins are easily the 3 most popular from what I've seen. Monks and Sorcerers are reasonably popular in my groups. I have...

    D&D 5E (2014) Low Charisma Lore Bard?

It is a random rolled character. We do this from time to time, and have found it to be really fun. This character was just a little less lucky than the others.

    D&D 5E (2014) Low Charisma Lore Bard?

Yeah I'm playing a low Cha Paladin too that, but Paladins are awesome in so many other ways. They can tank, Smite, heal, Smite, buff, Smite, DPR, Smite etc... that it didn't matter that his Cha was low. The Lore Bard is not so lucky. Sure the character will be a decent Archer, and still has some...
