    Dual Wielder vs. Polearm Master

Oh I completely agree that A Dex character shouldn't consider it mechanically until Dex is maxed, but after Dex is maxed, it doesn't give you even more.

    Dual Wielder vs. Polearm Master

There is no denying the PAM is superior to TWF and Dual Wielding in general, but the Dual Wielding feat is there for the players who actually want a TWF character. It does add a boost to both damage and AC so it's not a useless feat. Another possible advantage to Dual Wielder is that it can be...

    D&D 5E (2014) Which arcane caster should I play?

I couldn't agree more.... from a DM stand point. Paladin's are so good they ruin all the DM's fun.

    D&D 5E (2014) Which arcane caster should I play?

Bard all the way. You can be the "healer" since the Cleric is gone. I'd go Lore with the Moderately armored feat which also gives a +1 to Dex. Starting AC with a Chain Shirt + Shield would be 17. You'll make the entire party better and they'll love you for it. Valor or Swords would be fun too...

    Help my Multiclass!! Gloomstalker/Assassin/Battle Master

Are you starting at level 1? Point buy? I'd consider dropping Fighter and just going Gloom Stalker 5/Rogue 15. Adding a 3rd class just makes it take forever until all of your big features come on line. But if you want to add Fighter to the mix, that could work too. I don't like planning for 20...

How important to you is maxing your primary stat?

Wow I appreciate the answers so far. I'm really surprised that "max my main stat first" has gotten so many votes.

How important to you is maxing your primary stat?

Thanks for the answers. I know I couldn't list every possible answer in the poll, and I know the answer is very class dependent too. If I'm playing a Pally, I will toggle my ASIs between Str and Cha instead of maxing one and leaving the other at 16. Same idea with Monk. Ranger or Rogue gets 20...

How important to you is maxing your primary stat?

It's always interesting to me to observe how people's opinions on here can differ so greatly on things. I've noticed that some people want to get their primary stat to 20 ASAP while others are content to keep it at 16 for a really long time. I typically like to max my primary stat early on, and...

    [5E] The worst race/class combinations?

I've played a Stout Halfling Barbarian and the little guy was a mini beast! You don't get Str but Dex and Con are both important for you so I had a decent AC from the beginning and just went Dex based. Orc Wizard may be THE worst but again that is similar to just dumping your primary stat.

    [5E] The worst race/class combinations?

I just remember an idea I have for a fun "challenge" similar to what you're thinking. I want to make a Lizardfolk Monk. I'd be forced to start with a +2 Dex mod which is not very good for a Monk, and I'd probably spend my first 3 ASIs bumping Dex, but I like the idea of a Lizardfolk Monk that...

    [5E] The worst race/class combinations?

The Revised Beastmaster Ranger is not that bad IMO. I would play one for real and probably will eventually. As far as bad race/class combination, it's really hard to mess up too bad unless you just get stupid and dump your main stat. Assuming you are going to at least do your best to make your...

Modi and Magni --- Northman Brothers

You could almost argue that ruling by fear would be about the same as having infinite courage. I was thinking Oath of Conquest Paladin with the Menacing feat. You can either max Charisma or talk to your DM about letting you use the Intimidation from Str variant rule.

    D&D 5E (2014) [5E] Recommendations for Fighter BattleMaster Build

I agree with a lot of what Blue said. I would definitely round out Str and Con at level 4. Then take Sentinel and PAM at 6 and 8 in either order, then maxing Str. I wouldn't plan anymore after that because you have no idea what you're going to want from your character by the time you get...

    The 3 Wizard Feats

From personal experiences, I've found that Alert is a very popular first Wizard feat. Special shout out to the 19 Con Hobgoblin Wizard that took Durable at level 8 after maxing Int at level 4. I thought it was smart.

How do you make a Barbarian interesting? :)

Just out of curiosity, what was this characters Int score? Because aside from the Badger part, you nearly described my Stout Halfling Frenzy Barb that had a 4 Int. He was basically a wild feral animal who preferred a light hammer to anything else. He was the party pet and was always 3 levels...

    Worst character possible

Did the OP ever even come back to this thread? I don't think he did Edit: no he did not

A tiny offset to the Frenzy Barbarian's neg?

I played with a DM that allowed the Lesser Restoration spell to remove 1 level and Greater Restoration to remove 3 levels. Even with this change, the Barb didn't go into a frenzy every encounter, and the Cleric didn't always have the slot to use AFTER a tough encounter. As an offset to the...

Just how bad would a 4th level blind Barbarian be?

Yeah this one was of my biggest worries

Just how bad would a 4th level blind Barbarian be?

The thought would be Reckless Attack canceling out disadvantage on melee attacks. I don't care to try to get him True Sight or Blindsense or anything. Just a straight up blind warrior. Would he REALLY be that bad? I know anything that relies on site is an auto-fail, and Danger Sense doesn't...

    About the War Cleric......

Yes I would assume, coming from the full weapons and armor proficiency, that the War Cleric was "supposedly" built around being in or near melee most of the time, not hiding in the back with the glass cannons. I agree that at higher levels, using the Cast Spell action is usually going to be...
