The Only Thing I Don't Like About 5e! (Hint- ASIs)

I get what you are saying, but I don't know that there isn't a little rose-coloring going on here. While much of what you said is true, stats had quite an impact on 1e... Magic-Users (take that "Wizards"!) DID rely on their INT to get higher level spells. It also added to their chance to learn...

This is a lie from the abyssal realms of Orcus! I am NOT down-voting her because she has initials. Only because she uses them as her professional name rather than a real name. In 100 years they'll hate me for my initial-ist attitude! :D:devil::D

D&D 5E (2014) How would you replace stat bumps in feats?

To be honest, I'm not sure. Personally, I think it is a bad idea. But if I were to do it I would probably sit down and come up with options. As a general rule, I would use a skill that falls under the same stat as the ability increase would have been from.

D&D 5E (2014) How would you replace stat bumps in feats?

I wouldn't change them, but if I did, perhaps replace the +1 STAT with a skill proficiency?

Well in that case I believe I still owe you an angry, non-sequitor rebuttal for doing it wrong! So... ummm... WELL, YOUR DOG IS UGLY!

Arguments and assumptions against multi classing

All true. But I have not been very precise with my language. I've been talking in terms of "banning" MC since it is simpler than saying "strongly discouraging MC, and making players convince me to allow it". Perhaps I could split the difference and call what I do a "soft ban" rather than a "hard...

Because it breaks verisimilitude. Which is fine if that's what people enjoy. I don't enjoy running those games, and rarely enjoy playing in games lacking verisimilitude. Absolutely correct: I wouldn't enjoy playing with that person. But isn't the point of this discussion to talk about why we...

I would agree, the "TRUE system master" would have done that. Again, and this is my experience not a scientific fact, most of the times I've seen this done it wasn't by a system master. It was by someone who saw something that has the kewl and suddenly decided that they wanted it for their...
