The ability to self-rigously say with firm conviction that your side is right! :p I tend to pop these polls up anytime one of the rules arguments goes too far. Particularly if any side is claiming that no one supports the other view. I am also just plain curious what the majority opinion is.

Everyone's got an opinion. My only regret is not being more clear posing my question and that I didn't include Custserv as one of the options. It would have been amusing to see if it had gotten any votes at all.

I will definately second that one. GMs will still make bad calls of course, but at least they now have to admit that what they are doing is arbitrary...

Given the number of minor jabs from Babknight, I wouldn't say it was a suprising one. I assumed he was kiding when he asked who hypersmurf was.

Actually, as there is no negitive side effect to failing a search check, you can take 20 on search checks to find traps. The example given for taking 20 is even a search check. Nothing under the rogue trapfinding ability, nor the search skill itself says anything otherwise. Any time you can...

Naturally the DM has final say. No game without them, afterall. The poll is more about what individuals consider a good source, not on what rules at the game table.

It seems pretty evident from reading the boards that there is a wide variety of opinions on what sources are considered official enough to be beyond question. The cynic in me thinks that people consider any source that agrees with what they think is cannon, but any source that disagrees with...

...and here I was thinking I should have gone with a shorter name. :p
