    Retrieving a potion while grappled

AoOs are not a problem since grapplers don't threaten.

    Retrieving a potion while grappled

The major problem I have with making it a move action with a grapple check (or anything with a grapple check for that matter) is that most people simply will not be able to do it. Most monsters can out-grapple most PCs most of the time. Making retrieving a potion a full round action w/o...

    Retrieving a potion while grappled

So it sounds like you are saying that if they have a potion belt, move action with a grapple check, otherwise, not available.

    Retrieving a potion while grappled

Because, most spell components are closer in size to potions bottles then light weapons. Also, you are rooting around in a bag for the right one. ;)

Well Frank, you are certainly gunning for RBDM. ;)

    Retrieving a potion while grappled

So, in the last session, the mage was grappled by a giant constrictor snake. I felt very evil. :) It did, however raise a couple questions. The player decided he wanted to drink a potion to make up for some of the damage while the party tried to rescue him. Since the grapple rules don't...

looking for a group in seattle/redmond/bellevue area

We recently lost a player for a 3.5 D&D game on saturdays in Kirkland. Interested?

    Cleave ans AoO

I think it is kind of nice that this discussion has been had so many times that we can skip the "does not-does too" portion of the thread, not to mention the trashing of the FAQ and Sage Advice and go straight to the part where we agree what the rules are and suggest what we think would be...

Players refusing to play within GM's ruling/narrative?

Funny enough, I had a similar experience playing a Thief in 1st edition. The DM wanted to know how I searched for traps. I responded that I had no idea, not bring skilled in such things. He persisted. This continued for a bit. I though he was a real jerk. :]

*Archtypical Paladin Quandry* The 'Are you a Paladin?' Question.

Are you a paladin? Yes or No only. (Yes, of course it is a silly set up, but it comes up every so often, so I figured it was worth a poll)

*Archtypical Paladin Quandry* The 'Are you a Paladin?' Question.

The party NEEDS to enter the city for very valid and completely unspecified plotline reasons. :p

*Archtypical Paladin Quandry* The 'Are you a Paladin?' Question.

The most recent paladin thread reminded me of one of the questions which seems to invariably come up when the paladin's code of conduct is debated. I am curious how the board in general feels about it. Without further ado, the set up: The party (containing a paladin, let's call him Dudley)...

Adding a vote to Mage of the Arcane Order, though you don't seem to get any familiar advancement in the 3.5 version.

Tailing the the party *My Players stay out*

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Well, I went with listen checks every 10 minutes. The swamp is pretty consistant, 25' maximum sight distance due to mist. They did eventually figure out they had a flying spy, though they didn't realize the identity until the wizard sent out his crow familiar...

Tailing the the party *My Players stay out*

Useful advice for the spot, but I am more concerned about the frequency of listen checks. I really don't want to screw over the party on this one.

Tailing the the party *My Players stay out*

How often should PCs get listen checks to notice they are being followed through a swamp by an invisible flying quasit?

Should Spot checks include looking up?

This I submit the question to you: What is the difference between a character with a high spot and one with a low spot? To me, it is situational awareness. You seem to be saying you don't see it that way.
