    Hmmm... a Crusader is probably not going to work, then. They have lots of abilities. What about a (Paladin or Fighter)/Dwarven Defender? They are pretty straightforward and can have some nice defenses. -Stuart

    If you want to go Druid and your DM will allow it, you could use the Spontaneous Rejuvenation option from PHBII (give up spontaneous summoning - instead burn spells to give fast healing to allies in a radius of 15', or something like that...). -Stuart

    I've never really liked the human extra skill points. Humans are more skilled than elves and dwarves (who are much older than they are)? Really? No. I expect humans in 4e will be balanced with other races largely by giving them more action point things. -Stuart

    Crusader is in Tome of Battle:Book of Nine Swords. It isn't part of the SRD. If your DM will allow classes from that book, that's probably your best bet. (other than a ridiculous Druid) -Stuart

    If there are three other fighters in the group, you might want to consider something other than just melee damage output. You'll have that covered... and a base Duskblade isn't bad at it. You'll have a decent Intelligence, so Combat Expertise + Improved Disarm or Trip might be an interesting...

    Just posted this in another thread: I allow levels of Commoner (and only Commoner) to be taken in Gestalt with LA. I find this keeps PCs from falling too far behind in HD-based things, while not being overpowered like a PC class would be.

    I, too, played a non-optimized Druid (I avoided summoning and almost never used my animal companion)... and easily overshadowed the rest of my group accidentally. Most of the problem, of course, was that it was a game that was heavily based on wilderness encounters, animals (lots of dinosaurs)...
