    Anyone else miss Dispel Magic?

Back to dispel magic: It seems to me that it is lacking one-third of its function. It can get rid of conjurations and zones, but what about harmful spells such as charms, curses, etc.? Heck, what about buffing spells? I presume they've covered this with other spells (break enchantment, et...

    How important is size?

Trolls appear to be large because they are swollen with teh awesome. ;)

    D&D 4E Should 4e convert to metric?

What, you've never baked? You use cups of flour, etc. Heck, my oatmeal this morning was measured using volume (yeah, I could eyeball it instead of measuring but I'm picky about my oatmeal. Call me Goldilocks.)

    D&D 4E Should 4e convert to metric?

That sounds awkward for converting distances to squares. The corridor is 50 meters long: it's easy to convert this to squares if the units are 2 meter, but 1.5? I know things are going to be in squares anyways, but do many DMs describe the environment in terms of squares, outside of combat...

The Warlock, what a great assasin!!

Yeah, but I think only in 3rd edition has the assassin been given magic powers. The AD&D version an assassin had no magic. I always felt the 3e magic assassin was really sloppy idea. Assassins need to be sneaky... let's give them invisibility spells! Oh, and assassins need to be able to...

The Warlock, what a great assasin!!

I'm hoping the Assassin turns out to be not a class, but just a way to refer to anyone who murders professionally. You want the classic "sneak in and stab"? Rogue. Sniper? Ranger. You want a magic sneaky shadow killer? Warlock, or warlock/rogue.

    D&D 4E Should 4e convert to metric?

The metric system was invented by gnomes. One meter = average height of a gnome. In fact, metric is just short for gnometric. Seriously, though, I like five-foot squares a lot better than two-meter squares. Two meters just seems a bit too big.

    D&D 4E Should 4e convert to metric?

I'd say that it's because it's easier to get a feel for distance than weight in an unfamiliar measurement system. Something is 30 meters away? I know that's 95ish feet away. Something is 70 kilograms? Ummmm.... double it... 140, then um, oh 154 lbs! This made me think of how everything in...

    Roles are so LIMITING!

Here's an "important" question: how do you pronounce "niche"? I say it so it rhymes with witch, but I've heard people say it like "neesh". Yeah, I suppose a quick trip to a dictionary would help, but I'd rather know what people actually say, rather than what the dictionary says.

I'll be dead and buried before I recognize the Apollo heresy. Next you'll be saying that Wonder Woman doesn't fly in an invisible jet anymore.

The power sources should be: Solomon Hercules Atlas Zeus Achilles Mercury

8 power sources. so what are the other 4?

I don't think we should be taking the term "source" too literally. Martial is a "source" but it's not like there is a ginormous bucket of "martial power" somewhere in the universe from whence fighters draw their ability to hit people hard on the head.

At will teleport and other 4th ed player fun

Jail cells for eladrins are at the tops of very tall towers. They have a little window, and if you look carefully out you just see part of a little wooden platform. "Woo hoo!" Thinks the eladrin rogue, "I'm fey-stepping to safety!" So he teleports out, only to find that the platform is...

At will teleport and other 4th ed player fun

This is what is confusing me about 4e. They made a big point about making flight difficult and rare for various (and justifiable) reasons. Then they go and give out teleportation to first-level characters. Call me old fashioned, but I think that teleportation, even short-ranged, is the sort...

8 power sources. so what are the other 4?

Martial Arcane Divine Psionic Special Sauce Lettuce Cheese Pickles/Onions Seriously, though, I hope they don't map the power sources directly to planes. That seems a bit too contrived, and essentially makes all powers some sort of planar effect.
