    D&D 5E (2014) Concepts for an arcane half-caster/gish

To quick weigh in on the name, as everyone has, I will put aside my personal issue (all I see is the Greek myth) but using the colloquial definition makes it too broad. In a party of adventurers having a guy whose class is called "adventurer" seems weird, and if the goal is to make a class that...

Unearthed Arcana Spores, Brutes, and Inventors: Unearthed Arcana Brings You Three New Subclasses

That was a bit of my issue with some of Xanathar's subclasses. I think it would have bothered me less if they were in the core book. The College of Blades especially because it looked just like multi classing fighter.

D&D 5E (2014) Please help me with the “one spell cast per round” rule

I wouldn't say that. If you cast a bonus action your other spells this turn can only be cantrips (I don't have the book on hand) is pretty simple and clear if you come at it not realizing someone might use a reaction on their own turn. It is concise and covers the situations that probably came...

D&D 5E (2014) Please help me with the “one spell cast per round” rule

It could also be as I previously suggested that they never got that specific because it never came up. It seems very possible in play testing that they never had a situation come up where someone wanted to cast a bonus action spell and either get in a counterspell duel, or provoked an attack of...

D&D 5E (2014) Please help me with the “one spell cast per round” rule

I think it is still about simplicity and elegance of the actual written rule. Adding except... except... would make it harder for newer less rule lawyers players for minimal benefit. Also remember all things happen in the same 6 seconds so it is still going off real fast, you just don't get to...

D&D 5E (2014) Please help me with the “one spell cast per round” rule

To me both of those fall into avoid it being more awkward and clunky than necessary. Since casting 3 spells in one turn require either a specific subclass (Eldritch Knight? Don't have a book on hand) or a fairly unusual situation (wanting to cast shield or feather fall on your turn, are there...

D&D 5E (2014) Please help me with the “one spell cast per round” rule

Are there edge cases that are really awkward? Absolutely. But I think the alternative to achieve the limitation on crazy spell chains that they wanted would probably have been more awkward and clunky and probably not worth it given the general rarity of using reactions on your own turn.

D&D 5E (2014) Making Intelligence Less of a Dump Stat

Now I am biased because I love Int, Dex and Cha. Every character I make is high(ish) in usually two sometimes all three. Disclaimer out of the way I miss when Int gave languages and skills. I tend to think 5e does not give enough of either to encourage playing against type much.

Unearthed Arcana Spores, Brutes, and Inventors: Unearthed Arcana Brings You Three New Subclasses

While a valid point, many people partake of different media. I myself have dabbled very lightly n Forgotten Realms lore and all I know about Eberron is from the MMO. I know nothing of Dragonlance or Birthright but I did see gnomish engineering gadgets and cities in Warcraft, both the RTS and MMO.

Unearthed Arcana Spores, Brutes, and Inventors: Unearthed Arcana Brings You Three New Subclasses

I think I figured out how the reckless casting fit into the inventor theme. It all hinges on the ideas of A. The armor is something of a second focus you cast through like Iron Man's Repulsors and B. Inventor is more Warcraft gnome throw things together, pull random levers and hope it works...

D&D 5E (2014) Ok I have to ask..... what's with the Paladin hate on here?

I only really had an issue with the Chaotic variant Paladins. An alignment dedicated to not following rules that has an elaborate code of conduct? Seemed counter intuitive.

    D&D 5E (2014) Drop your weapons situation

It is more along the lines of "you return to the kingdom to find NPCX has been murdered" style plot twist only in this case they get back in time to interrupt and get a choice, even if it is limited and unpleasant. In either case I strongly recommend there be some hints that now might not be...

    D&D 5E (2014) Drop your weapons situation

As far as the loss of player agency question, while the situation only has two options, I feel the player's can have lots of agency leading up to it. Did they choose to protect a target or chase another lead? Did they investigate the villain's goals or just kill minions? The situation is the...

D&D 5E (2014) Confusion About Spells and Multicasting

This particular character is actually after extra skills, and maybe Vicious Mockery. It makes sense in context.

Makes sense enough, just means extra table consulting.

D&D 5E (2014) Confusion About Spells and Multicasting

This may have already been addressed but it just came up for me with someone multi classing two full caster classes. Several classes state something like "at each level you can one new spell known (or two to your spellbook, or whatever) these spells must be from a level you can cast. So if for...
