    [4e] Starfall

The Fey. Twelve years ago, the first stragglers from the Wildwood, the expanse of thorns and dripping oaks that lays from the north-west of the Blackwall to the coast of Cliff Even, covering a journey that would be four weeks on foot, even if there were straight roads in that wild place, came...

    What defines D&D ?

They do taste similar... have a similar consistency... and wind up in the same environments... or is that violating the no religion rule? :)

    Forked Thread: Three more days

I don't like edition wars. I do like comparing editions. I am thus in a very uncomfortable place, especially since it's not even a question of policing ones own voice: there's so much bad blood that it's actively impossible to discuss either edition without stepping on a mine. Where's my magic...

Mainpage broken - pleaze fix or do somefink

    1) You do have a datebook next to your computer, assuming that your computer is next to itself. 2) Eh, the dates don't do anything for me 3) You're thinking too hard about fantasy. Cheerio! :)

    [4e] Starfall

Gladly :) I'm glad you guys like! (the Plots & Places forum doesn't have as many flames as general isn't as well traveled as general, so it sort of slips under my radar) Let's talk about edifices for a minute. The city of Starfall is a large city, population in the low tens of thousands...

Hey, Aaron Williams remarked on 15 pages of Dragon Boobage. He can do no wrong. ;)

    Long-Term Injury Rules

Pimping my own house rule: Follow the rules as written, with a single exception: One never dies from bleeding out. Instead, when the rules would normally kill a character, they receive a "mortal wound". This mortal wound is treated like a disease, causing a character to lose healing surges, use...

    [4e] Starfall

Religions: The Bright God of the Ternovans is by far the most popular deity in the campaign. His church (and the anthropomorphic image of that deity is certainly male) spans multiple nations, with well respected priests everywhere. Its modern form was created during the rise of the Ternovan...

Hear my whine, know my sadness

I'm not willing to purely blame the players here. DMs need to take player boneheadedness as a sign that with high probability, communication has broken down. 3 hours looking after turnips? The DM needs to either 1) make those turnips important or 2) after an hour of this (tops!), tip his hand...

Anyone else wonder why they didn't combine the 3.5 spell system and the 4th edition..

Seconded :) Constructively, albeit perhaps repetitiously: while there's now no easy "starter" class ("Never played D&D before? Grab the fighter, that's fairly easy to drive!"), I'm very far from taking this as a bad thing. You can make things as easy to drive or as hard to drive as you like...

    The tragedy of 4th edition.

Aaaaanyway. I'm a pretty big f4nboy, and am very much enjoying the new edition... ... but I, too, deplore the quality of the physical product. I think a lot of the OP's points (rogue powers?) are nits which I frankly don't care about, but there's some truth there, and the books could have been...

    Rapiers

Hmm. Not how I would phrase it. I mean, a hard parry with the flat is the quickest way to lose a weapon -- deflection, though, and you're golden.

    [4e] Starfall

Inspired by all the other "Here's my new campaign idea", here's my slice of Clive-Barker-Knockoff. Comment, throw rocks, steal for yourself (all I ask is attribution if you make money!), edit my wiki. Hook: Starfall. Three hundred years ago, the world of Man was shaken when the heavens opened...

    4E - A Grognard Gives it a Try

I don't have a problem with epic, but I have to go into it expecting wackiness. Some campaigns I run, it would fit. Some, it would not. It'll fit more often than it used to, though :)

    Arrows Usable Once Only?

That's actually a pretty good idea. Anyone with proficiency in X has the barebones knowledge to keep X operating. To whit: armor proficiency conveys enough knowledge to knock dents out, scavenge replacement buckles, and rivet. Weapon proficiency teaches you how to hone the edge, balance, and...

Brainstorming: The court of the blue dragon emir

How mythic is your game? The characters are fifth level, but would a dragon with clouds in its wings make them say "Wait, what?!" or interact with it as a sort of god? Because if you can get away with it, playing up the genius loci aspect of it might be neat. The oasis is a little dot of green...
