    Thank You

Good luck, stay in touch, and pimp whatever you're working on next somewhere nice & visible :)

    Baatorian Law vs Paladin

I don't really have an answer for you -- I like using Law v Chaos or Good v Evil as cosmic forces, and having the other be more like a descriptor of personality with few game effects... ... but thank you, paladin/alignment threads; I've missed you, and your presence is the surest sign that...

    I need a McGuffin

Land and riches. The dwarves, when they were ousted from their citadel, ousted the stone giants from the plains where they used to live. The hobgoblins convince the stone giants that, together, they can take back their roaming lands and leave the high heights. Besides, they really like shiny...

DM ex Machina: New Column from Ari Marmell

I actually thought of that, but couldn't figure out how to format that for a post -- so I figured you couldn't do it for an article. But yes, I agree that if tool tips can be made to work, that would rock!

DM ex Machina: New Column from Ari Marmell

Yes, it's a bit better than scrolling back in forth. Linking to an anchor (which links you back where you were) might also work. I enjoyed it :)

    Cursed Item

That's why I suggested you use divinatory magic (such as commune or divination) to find, rather than "how to remove the curse", "where can I find something that will help me remove the curse", "where can I find a sage who will help me remove this curse", or "What is the next thing I should do...

Why Changes were made in 4e

Inlines. Hear hear! I think that this doesn't make any sense to me, but maybe I'm not understanding you. A virtual table top is only very slightly cooler than a physical table top. The only thing that (as I see it) it could take from an MMORPG would be your character's visual appearance. It...

Why Changes were made in 4e

Good old double post, what would I do without you?

    Cursed Item

I think he may have meant research in game :) Mechanical solutions: Consider using Contact Other Plane, Legend Lore, a bardic knowledge check, divination spells, or as a last resort a [Limited] Wish or Miracle (expensive!) to find specifically "Who can tell us how to lift this curse" -- since...

How many of you have made your own RPG?

See my .sig; I got bitten by the Spirit of the Century bug but like D&D's swords & sorcery fantasy _thing_ too much to leave it for long. I also built something back in the dark days of second edition that stole way too much from Skills and Powers. I'm not proud.

    Experience with FATE?

Depends how good the GM is at giving you fate points -- Athlete is tougher to compel than Footbal Player which is tougher to compel than Star Quarterback. But yes. They are indeed wacky :) And it has an online SRD which gives you pretty much the whole game -- SotC SRD

    Experience with FATE?

I'm glad you asked, Metus. Check out my signature for some notes on a fantasy hack, but I've played a game or two of FATE 3.0, and think that it's the bee's knees. The cons are that, without a bit of grunt work on the part of the DM, SotC is too low resolution to make tacticians happy, because...

    FATE 3.0 beyond pulp

I've been hacking SotC for fantasy; see my signature for the consistent house-rules doc. Once you change the verbiage and skills around a little, it all falls into place pretty directly... As long as you change the way attacks & damage work, too. :-D

Help me name a Firey Macguffin

I like Hell's Heart, The Talisman of Colourless Flame, and The Crystal of Ebon Flame a lot :) Might I also suggest Surtr's Nail or Ashardalon's Talon?

    PC or Mac?

Macs. Oh, and linux. (my primary OS is very nearly Android these days, though...)

    [Setting Idea] Gothic twist

I was thinking about this, and you can have a slightly higher than fourth class human citizenry if you change a few things. Almost all of them result in humans living either in hiding or in walled city-states. Humans have a big brother. There's something -- angels, giants, werebears, armies of...

    DungeonLand! - My Own Creation

Neat idea! As a small suggestion, you might remove the number from the monster card, and move it to a separate "treasure" card, so that the player can fight monsters with math, but gains treasures with reading skills. This probably gives you slightly more replay value, if that's a worry, but...

Tell me about Spirit of the Century

So? How'd it go? Tell us about Spirit of the Century ;)
