    As someone who has literally been stalked by two people in downtown Toronto, at 5:00am, I think a healthy dose of situational awareness is a good thing. I also know that I live in one of the safest countries in the world, statistically speaking.

    Quite. In the numbers game, it's much like the frequently made statement that "more than half of marriages end in divorce." Without the metric of how many of those people were already on their second, third, fourth.... marriage, the raw numbers are pretty meaningless.
