TSR TSR3 Blames Widespread Pushback On WotC

And yet, you know everything about this incident and why Ernie left Twitter? Concern trolling supports the status quo and the bigots.

D&D 5E (2014) Houseruled: Feats, Rolled Stats, MCing Pick One

I'd pick feats. I prefer point buy over rolling if level based ASI is used (as per RAW). I don't multiclass, but feats are non-negotiable. I play 3 times a week. I don't need to play a game without feats.

    D&D 5E (2014) Do We Really Need a Lot of Gold? (D&D 5th Edition)

Only in 3e (and its clone) did I give out treasure at the levels listed in the DMG. That may be because we don't do much dungeon delving in my games. When characters come upon a treasure horde (rare, but it occasionally happens) the PCs usually spend it on role-playing, non-combat causes such...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Mages of Strixhaven

We don't use the term campaign because of its connection to wargames. We use chronicle instead, to emphasize the storytelling nature of our games.

    D&D 5E (2014) Starting to Hate Hexblades

We use feats but no level based ASI. We also don't use the multiclass spellcasting table in the PHB. Characters track spells from different classes separately. No warlock spell levels for paladin smiting or any other broken combo. We roll stats together as a group when making characters. Each...

D&D General Why does D&D still have 16th to 20th level?

We just finished one game at level. We had only one story left at level 20, but we managed to play once at that level. We finished a Krynn game that ended at level 17. We're currently playing a game at 14th level that will likely reach 17-18. My last 3e FR game when to level 18. Some of our...

    D&D 5E (2014) What does 5E do well?

The games I run and play in have between 4 and 6 players. That's been the case since about 1980. Before that it was mostly 1-2 players.

D&D General Weird: Do you introduce weird elements in your campaigns?

The first published adventure I ever ran was Temple of the Frog from the original Blackmoor supplement. What some consider weird D&D is just D&D to me. My kids* just finished playing through Temple of the Frog in a Blackmoor homage setting AND Expedition to the Barrier Peaks in an expanded...

    D&D 5E (2014) Humans Only

I run a modern humans only game with four warlock PCs and one ranger. Everyone is having fun. I have played and would play in a "humans only" or "elves only" game before I would play in a game where all the races from the 2e PHB are allowed but not dragonborn or tieflings. Theme is important...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Mages of Strixhaven

I'm going to back up Maxperson here. Dream Thief's Daughter takes place in the 1000 years of subject time Elric spends wandering the multiverse in astral form helping out other versions of the champion eternal. This time takes place in the seconds in which he is tied to the mast before his final...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Mages of Strixhaven

I never played a 4e monk. I gave up on 4e after only chronicle. I'm speaking of limiting characters to roles and forcing all their spells (excuse me, powers) to work only in furtherance of those goals. The 4e monk may have been the exception in all of 4e class design,

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Mages of Strixhaven

Monk and wizard are my two favorite classes. I play more monks than any other class. I am glad that they aren't limited by restrictive 4e design conceits.

    D&D 5E (2014) WotC: 5 D&D Settings In Development?

Count me in that minority as well. I never liked boxed sets (since the original white box). I get the booklets hole-punched and put them in a binder. I usually lose the boxes after that.

D&D 5E (2014) How do you feel about games without Feats and Multiclassing?

The poll doesn't quite capture my groups feelings on the matter. We don't use level based ASI . only feats. (Avoids ability bloat. We also limit abilities to 18 without the use of magic.) We modify feats that give +1 to an ability so that they give something else instead. Multiclassing isn't...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D compared to Bespoke Genre TTRPGs

I know some folks claim that D&D doesn't handle other genres well. My experience is different. I've run every version of D&D from ODD to 5e and pathfinder. I hate dungeon crawls with a passion and stopped running them back in high school (around 1982). I've been running a consistent modern...

    D&D 5E (2014) Goodman Games Taking Pre-Orders For ToEE

I have to remove the silliness when I run Castle Amber. I wouldn't bother if CAS wasn't one of my favorite authors. I probably wouldn't like it if I played it with someone who ran it as written. I just have never like dungeon crawls. It isn't really boredom, although I find combat to be much...

D&D General Things That Bug You

I was saying that they would read like I said above if they were standardized (made to look like the DEX adjustment to AC and CON adjustment to HP).

D&D General Things That Bug You

I would much prefer the old system. If it were made consistent, it would be +0 for 8-14, +1 for 15, +2 for 16, +3 for 17 and +4 for 18. My kids love D&D but complain that it's too easy compared to BRP, which we also play frequently. We use a lot of house rules. They weren't too keen on the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Goodman Games Taking Pre-Orders For ToEE

I like many of them, although I often rewrite them when I run them. In no particular order, I like: Temple of the Frog (I first ran it out of the Blackmoor booklet for OD&D) The slaver series (except that I reverse A4 and A3 because I don't hand wave the party losing a fight. I just increase...

    D&D 5E (2014) Goodman Games Taking Pre-Orders For ToEE

Don't like one-shots Don't like death traps Played it (with fake enthusiasm) 3-5 times over the last 42 years. Didn't enjoy a single time. It's not lack of experience that makes me hate it. It's the experience of having played it that did that.
