D&D 5E (2014) Watery Sphere (Elemental Evil Companion)

Ok, did some check: leaving aside the small beasts (rat, raven, weasel, etc.) the only creatures in the MM with a CON of 9 or less are both the kobolds (either winged and wingless) and the pixie. Using a 4th level spell to eventually kill 4 kobolds is definitely a waste of spell slots. It...

D&D 5E (2014) Watery Sphere (Elemental Evil Companion)

Thank you for your answer @Paraxis. Actually, anyone with a negative CON modifier (i.e.: CON up to 9) would drown and die; the spell duration is up to 1 minute: let's take away 30 seconds (minimum hold breath) and remove again 1 round (minimum survival for a creature that has run out of...

D&D 5E (2014) Watery Sphere (Elemental Evil Companion)

Howdy all! I am browsing through the spells in the Elemental Evil and a question popped in my mind: with the Watery Sphere spell, one or more creatures are "engulfed by the water" and enclosed in the aforementioned sphere. My question is this: would you rule that the creatures engulfed are...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Turn Undead conundrum

Hmm...it appears that I'm the only one that read 'Turn Undead' as a use of Channel Divinity, and as such being limited at low levels at 1 shot per rest...

D&D 5E (2014) New Dungeon Master and board user!

Be welcome! Beside what others have brilliantly said before me, get inspiration everywhere, from any media: books (either fiction and non-fiction), movies, comics, not necessarily fantasy-themed. Try revising them as "in play". Have fun.

D&D 5E (2014) Is this guy legally publishing 5e stuff?

I was actually wondering about the same issues some days ago, in the comments to MerricB reviews, seems like my doubts were legit...

MerricB Has Reviewed a Bunch of 3rd-Party D&D 5E Products! And One Old One!

Yes, I was referring to Mind Flayers as a "worst" case infact [emoji6]

MerricB Has Reviewed a Bunch of 3rd-Party D&D 5E Products! And One Old One!

I'm sure of that. Sadly I'm not much learned in the field. Probably they're referring to the old OGL. I am wondering about one scenario, though, and maybe someone can help me: if I publish an adventure that features an Illithid, and I just give the reference (i.e.: you encounter a Mind Flayer...

MerricB Has Reviewed a Bunch of 3rd-Party D&D 5E Products! And One Old One!

Quagmire! cover truly calls for vengeance! :) I am wondering more about how it's possible to publish 5e compatible material without a licensing system; for example, how are monsters treated? NPC stats? Do these modules just refer to the manuals?

D&D 5E (2014) Moral Quandry Over Possible DM Failures?

Would I be the DM, I would like that my players approached me and told there was something they didn't like; by the same token, though, it would be nice knowing that something has been especially appreciated. Since I'm not your DM, I can't know but maybe the mismatching magic items are meant to...

D&D 5E (2014) Casting spells with costed components

The spell descrpition doesn't specify the quantity of the material component which will be used so yes, the cost should be waived. Especially since a Cleric or a Paladin should be able to hallow some drops of water at will (if there's any water around, at least).

You're right, per the rules the pearl is not consumed. Your DM may rule otherwise though.

D&D 5E (2014) Where does the punitive approach to pc death come from?

I wasn't deriding you...and wasn't even saying "just ress him up". Actually, I was defending the possibility of death for a PC, and saying, as already explained in other posts, that IF the PC was so vital to the party (either as a strategic asset or out of affection) THEN a resurrection COULD be...

D&D 5E (2014) Where does the punitive approach to pc death come from?

Hmm...sorry? Yes, I said that a PC can be resurrected, which is not the same than saying that (s)he will, nor that the the resurrection is free and easy as to a snap of fingers. What I said, and I apologize if it didn't come across, is that if there is a deep involvement/attachement in/to the...

Third Party Character Creation iOS App Removed

I know you would answer like this, and I'm with you. I know also that digital download is not the same of thieving solid stuff, but let's face it: we're talking about an hobby with a thin market (as recently discussed in other threads), and the lowering of the sales can lead only to drying it...

Third Party Character Creation iOS App Removed

Just to clear my mind: by the same tokens defended in many posts, it's perfectly rightful to download the scanned manuals because WotC hasn't yet announced when they would be selling the 5e PDFs? Just wondering...

D&D 5E (2014) Where does the punitive approach to pc death come from?

I can't answer for any other DM, only for what it could be done at my table. I probably have missed the point, and for that I am sorry and ask you a question: what is bothering you (or the player of the said Paladin, if it wasn't you)? That the PC was a concept dear to you, and that you would...
