For ease of calculus, and because I assume successful PCs have overall better stata than the norm, especially if they are to reach higher levels. I wanted to get myself a clearer picture, increasing the fit population tenfold still gives extremely low figures for high levels.

Nonetheless, being in the AoE of a Fireball is not the same as being attacked by someone. At least, this is this DM judgment call ;-)
