The Hidden Costs of Game Mastering

Great article, very insightful. Sometimes I feel completely floored after running some sessions and I just want to go to bed. 6.000 calories "just" playing chess... those are very interesting numbers!

    D&D 5E (2014) Medieval D&D Character Sheets

On the "Class features" part of the most visible sheet there's an editing error (it skips a line after the word "your"). And this is the pic they used in the promotional material. Wouldn't pay 2.95 for these based solely on that. Is this a "promoted" post or a "real" post?

    Taking the Chair

Perhaps "Ask a DM for help when creating your first adventure" might be more helpful. They can steer you away from classic pitfalls and into a fun direction. Also, discussing this topic with my group one of them suggested some adventures/systems that are more new-DM-friendly such as The King's...

    Taking the Chair

These all sound like great advice, except for the "Run a published adventure" one. I'm not too sure about that... sometimes complete freedom is too much freedom, yes, but following a "script" for your first game might just pile on more pressure. Of particular note is the "Run an NPC for your...

    It's Your Turn to GM

These articles are useless. They are a dime a dozen and this problem is not getting better at all. If anything, it's getting worse. These are all just a bunch of words that sound pretty and look like they should work. But they don't. They have no effect on the problem whatsoever. What about...

    Gamer Milestones

Its sad to see that all of these are money related milestones. We RPG players of the 3rd world (or just lower-middle class players of the 1st world) are being a bit pushed aside on this piece. I worked very hard for a lot of years and was finally able to buy a couple of Pathfinder books that I...

World of Design: The Lost Art of Making Things Up

I always give lewpuls a hard time with his articles but this one... this one is good. Broken clock syndrome, perhaps? Anyways, these observations are keen. It's not something new, by all means, by its something that doesn't get nearly enough attention. I, for one, appreciate visual aids in RPG...

Worlds of Design: The Chain of Imagination

What even is this? "RPGs require more imagination than movies" Uh? What? Yes, of course they do. Is this really the thesis of the article? "Short stories I think take a little more imagination because the author doesn't use so many words to describe what's going on." Really? Seriously...

Podcast #122: Nazi Dracula Must Die! with Justice Arman

"Nazi Dracula Must Die!" is the least inspired name since "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter". All of these themes have been done to death. And I say this totally bummed out, since the artwork on the kickstarter is actually pretty cool and the modern era is underexplored in RPGs nowadays. I just...

D&D General Curse of Strahd Pre-painted Minis Set

Its weird that even if one, like myself, has no idea who these characters are it is still possible to SORT OF match the name with the mini XD

    D&D 5E (2014) Mama Bear's Revenge: A New One Page Adventure!

You are basically correct. I do NOT agree with racism. The mainstream way of conceiving orcs has always been super racists towards the real life ethnicities they are used as short hand for.

    D&D 5E (2014) Mama Bear's Revenge: A New One Page Adventure!

They are "reformed" because the "normal" orc is a pillaging sub-human monster. This is awful. The "old school" way of conceiving RPGs is super racist. The idea of a group of talking animals attacking lumberjacks is nothing groundbreaking but quite neat, though.

Worlds of Design: A Time for Change

Great article. Not a new discovery, but it hits all the right notes and is very concise.

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game Core Set: A Review

I disagree. IMO this is clearly a negative review. Two highlights: "I’m not that target audience. Unfortunately, I also have a hard time thinking of who IS the target audience." "All I know is, it’s not something I’d recommend to my TTRPG friends, it’s not something I’d recommend to my board...

D&D 5E (2014) Check Out WizKids' Infernal War Machine Mini

I think that its fair to say that I'm no longer on the fence over the "Mad Max but in Hell" direction of the new storyline.

    Your Opinion Matters

Frankly I don't use Enworld's reviews all that much if at all. I was under the impression that we were talking about reviews in general, since the article didn't cite any review site specifically. To be perfectly clear: I've never seen this happen in Enworld. The phenomenon I was referring too...

    Your Opinion Matters

I feel that a lot of people (myself included) are discouraged from leaving reviews because lots of times negative ones get deleted and positive ones are clearly fake. Reviews are a good tool for developers, sure, but they are an even better tool for consumers who have a limited amount of money...

Check Out The One Ring 2E’s Cover Art!

Yeah, but while all the others are generic enough, those two "fellows" front and center sure look a lot like Bilbo and Gandalf. Check out their weapons! Not complaining, though. This is an awesome piece.

News Digest: Snippets of Pathfinder 2nd Ed Teased at PaizoCon, Cyberpunk Red Starter Set Gets Releas

"Weapon Rune 4+" means that the most basic rune in this category is lvl 4, but there are higher level runes that follow these rules. From the format one can assume that it's an item, not a power. As the Paladin has been renamed Champion and can be of multiple alignments ("Paladin" is the name...
