Anyone want to help adjudicate a Wish spell?

Well, I don't know for every instance why you would, but as this is more general, and I don't know the specifics of the game... I'd say you as a DM would 'give credit' as you say because three characters died, and you as a DM might want that to have not happened... the fact that it happened...

Minis and Grids, do you use them?

But I can say that there aren't numberous feats and non-optional rules (meaning assumptions in the rules-set) that required the mini's. Certainly mini's help conceptualization. They didn't have combat reflexes, where really you're only getting multiple attacks of opportunity when you can TELL...

    New Race: Gutterkin

I like it. It does just about what I was wanting too... Although I'd want to add attempting to escape a grapple also (easily added in). Escaping a grapple is technically a self-initiated action, as you said, and so it wouldn't apply there normally. But I see escaping a grapple as a response...

Minis and Grids, do you use them?

But, you know, Gary didn't play 3.X (Edit: Of course, he might now... I'm asserting that your 'rarely used or uses' was from the majority of his life, which of necessity wasn't in 3.X Of course, I personally think that it's likely that if he DOES play 3.X he playes a heavily house-ruled...

    Eldritch Blast and resistances

Hey, it could happen one day. Someone might make a "force dragon" or something similiar... (I've actually seen people make custom force monsters)

    Curtailing psionics

No teleporation would be sad! Telekenisis, teleportation, and divination are the base psionic skills. Telekenisis can make fire pretty easily...

Anyone want to help adjudicate a Wish spell?

Probably the best way to do this according to RAW

    New Race: Gutterkin

Of course, that seems ... difficult to do to me. Besides, bull rush, disarm, and overrun aren't all that frequently used. (Note: If this is also true in your games, take another look at overrun and improved overrun. A pretty good feat/maneuver.) But still... something... How about something...

    New Race: Gutterkin

I've thought of that too... but it should defintiely be to resist or escape, not just to escape. I've played with grapple a lot and there's no real way to 'escape' a grappler other than to resist the grapple in the first place. Or having a move speed that's more than double your opponent's move...

    New Race: Gutterkin

I like it. A nice, well rounded class. Not the perfect fighter, with that size... but a pretty good one nonetheless. A hit to intelligence hurts the rogue-skill based classes that want that extra dex, so that's very well balanced. They're getting... And effective +10 to speed (compensatory...

Anyone want to help adjudicate a Wish spell?

I'd say that is within the 'safe list'... in that it's "undoing an unfortunate event" that just occured. Well... undoing ONE unfortunate event might be the extent of the safe wish, and that could be argued as three unfortunate events. Or three ressurections. Which is clearly outside of the...

Keen or another +1 ? Math Help Please...

Hey, I was going to say that! Heh. I've seen a lot of math, and it's almost always better to get an additional +1 rather than the keen enchantment. That being said, magebane is only +1, and it's very powerful (in certain circumstances). ... Many have debated that it's too good for only +1

    New Race: Gutterkin

I like the scrappy pugnacious attitude too. Of course, it was kind of my suggestion there. But I also like the luck bonus. I say keep the move silently, and drop the spot/search/listen bonus for the grapple bonus. MS is a ranger type skill, the perception skills are more roguish than ranger...

    New Race: Gutterkin

Ah. I'm saying that there's a hidden -4 penalty to strength (average) to small races. I get this from looking at the various size penalties to weapons, and from their overall carrying capacity. Apply a little math and you'll find that on the low end weapons it's only an effective -2 to strength...

An alternate way of looking at stats

My thoughts... it would be interesting... AND that I've rolled 18 on 3d6 before. ... Since I prefer to play in long campaigns, I'd say that if I rolled a character that had an impressive 13, I'd let it die 'heroically' and try again. Because, whatever the actual odds, I know that the 18 is...

Initiative Cards - Your Advice and Experiences

I'd say that initiative cards are practically a must have. You can delegate the initiative order keeping to someone else, if you want, but even then cards are the best way. The only base information I put on initiative cards are the player/character's name, and their bonus to initiaitve...

House Rules You Don't Realize You Have

That's as it needs to be. 3.X is a very lawful/rules dependant book. It has LOTS of rules for everything. There's a rule for everything and everything has a rule. Where it doesn't have a rule either does not exist or is an accepted (by the 3.x community) shortcoming. Other systems aren't that...

House Rules You Don't Realize You Have

Apparently I have several. I simply don't notice them until they're pointed out by me playing in a different game. For instance I've always had someone able to run (x4 in light/no armor, or x3 other) in a non completely straight line. I mean, it just makes sense. Running all out certainly does...

Minis and Grids, do you use them?

It's more that 3.X is designed as a miniatures game. So many rules and feats and skills (and therefore PrC's) require the mat. I like the basic mat free game style. But you can't really play that in 3.X and use the 3.X rules effectively. The game assumes you're using a mat/grid/etc. And if you...

Minis and Grids, do you use them?

I'm somewhere around there. Now, for a good contrast, I recently played in a game where it was all kept in the GM's head, no map. A lot of my 'feats' were completely useless. Combat reflexes... Why did I take that? When do I get the extra attacks, exactly? Apparently never. The mage almost...
