    Dragon 363 Blurb

I wouldn't say its a rosy memory (personally I stopped buying dragon over a decade ago, and never bought dungeon). Its more that they kiled the magazines a year before they were ready to pick up the slack, which is lost money for them and lost gaming info for their audience. Lets face it...

During an attack, when to check bloodied status?

Hmm. That really isn't any different. Its triggering after the attack is resolved, not retroactively like the original example.

    Tactical Quotient (TQ) for monsters

Well, a few thoughts. One, the team abilities are really built into the new monsters, if the kobolds are any example. Between shifty and the mob attack on so many of them, I can't see running them without a large degree of teamwork and cooperation among the monsters. Same with the...

    Dragon 363 Blurb

Interesting. So is dragon officially quarterly at this point, or is it down to thrice-yearly? Some meat on the martial classes would be nicely- hopefully the warlord, since its the only class thats almost entirely unknown at this point. After the D&DXP, we at least have a baseline on...

Minion fun! What do you plan to do with them?

Unless they have ranged attacks, however, 640 1st level minions aren't really a threat, because they can't get close enough to do a lot of damage, while a 30th level character will probably be obliterating packs at a time. On the other hand, with ranged attacks... 640 kobold minions (but with...

Should the DMG be the cheapest core book?

Dunno about this. I think it should cost less, but mostly because its almost 100 pages shorter than the PH. You definitely shouldn't be paying the same for less content.

    Fomorians article on DDI

Eh. Like most of the fluff, I can't say I care for it. Dislike the madness. Apparently they're cursed. And mad. Because of the evil eye. The pink eye! Also, alas, chaos = madness. And power hungry, naturally. Joy. Deemphasize alignments, but fall into same pigeonhole problems anyway...

Is heavy armour still the Cinderella?

This seems fairly important, regardless of mithral. A heavy armor character can use int and dex as dump stats and still have a competitive AC, and benefit in the stats that actually matter to his class. The paladin for example, doesn't seem to have any inherent use for either stat, beyond...

Will the 5 minute rest encourage roleplaying?

Mmm. I see that as completely dependent on the group, and nothing at all to do with this particular mechanic. That bard, for example, (and yeah, I've met him and his bad jokes) will insert them at every opportunity, even when something else is going on. On the other extreme you've got the...

    Ability Scores

I blame daylight savings time. And maybe that its such an unfocused distribution of scores for 4e, which doesn't seem to require more than 3 or 4 stats (and only 4 when the class doubles up on a pair). For me, it is stupid o'clock in the morning, and on 5 hours of sleep, too. Grr. Useless...

    Ability Scores

I get, for humans, +2 to one stat (wis), and 28 points, which hurts the character quite a bit. Though not as much as the paladin is hurt by not having an 18.

    D&D 4E the 4e debate: a typology of players

I don't know. Treating different opinions as problems to be solved (or attacked) is a bit disconcerting, as is generalizing individuals into categories. Why not just accept other people's opinions as there own and not worry about it? No one 'wins' anything by convincing other people to love...

Will the 5 minute rest encourage roleplaying?

I don't see it as encouraging or discouraging role playing. It seems rather disconnected. 'We rest for 5 minutes... and we're done. Moving on'.

D&D 4E Easier to be Small in 4E?

Right, the sword is giving +3 to hit rather than +2. So its hards to say if the small ones are limited to mechanically inferior weapons. Although in 3e this didn't matter anyway. Damage bonus mattered a lot more than the die type. But aside from the movement penalty, there aren't a lot of...

Is the 15 minute adventuring day now the 90 minute adventuring day?

I think the healing surges will dictate resting (slightly) more than the dailies. When someone gets down to 1 or 2 surges, they're going to want to rest. After all, you're going to worry about random encounters during the 6 hour rest period at that point. So I'd guess about 3-4 encounters...

    D&D 4E DDXP 4E Rules Appendix

Up your perception skill- negating combat advantage will come up a lot more often (and negating the +2 to enemy attacks will get rid of a lot of ill effects of a surprise round). First reaction has a lot of conditional ifs involved. If you get surprised (fail a perception roll) if you spend...

Adapting the New FR from Eberron

Greyhawk :) was a little less high fantasy. Mostly, anyway, spider-shaped spaceships of evil demon-goddesses notwithstanding. (actually, there was a consistent sci-fi in fantasy seam that lingered throughout blackmoor and greyhawk). Heroes didn't jump out of the windows of whorehouses...

    D&D 4E Eberron: The Artificer in 4e...

Either of those would be better than the 3e version. Nothing quite like a class that asks, 'how would you like to break the game today?'

    D&D 4E DDXP 4E Rules Appendix

Don't know about that. It sounds that epic characters will be wandering off to the corner bakery in Sigil as a matter of course. Steely? No, but sensible, coherent ones would be a nice change. It doesn't need to be 'larded'- just a straightforward definition of a day- whether its a simple...

Adapting the New FR from Eberron

Just to be nitpicky, drow as PCs predate the realms. You could kludge them out of the FF entry, as I recall, and official rules for drow PCs were in the 1e version of Unearthed Arcana. I agree with bganon, though. Most of the big changes in FR are catering to the people who didn't like FR...
