Pathfinder 1E Maptool Pathfinder game looking for at least 1

Hello! Our weekly Pathfinder game needs at least one, possibly two more dedicated players. We usually meet Wednesday and Thursday nights from 8-11 pm Eastern Time, U.S., and are a little more than halfway through Rise of the Rune Lords, (after which we'll move on to the next Pathfinder AP)...

Looking for NYC Pathfinder/3.5 group ...

Are you interested in playing via Maptools? The weekly Pathfinder game I play in is looking to fill a couple slots. We usually meet Wed and Thurs night, 8 to 11 or so. And if you don't know Maptool, you can check it out here: www (dot) rptools (dot) net. Its free. Good luck finding a game!

How Can You Politely Say, "Your Character Sucks?"

Should D&D be a game that appeals to all sorts of different players and campaigns? Yes. A million times, yes. And I'm NOT stating its the only game. I'm saying it shouldn't pinhole itself as a combat-only tactical battle-mat and minis game. And yeah, I said "shouldn't".

How Can You Politely Say, "Your Character Sucks?"

Despite the focus on combat built into 4e by WotC, and despite the focus on combat by some people playing 4e, some people do not play in campaigns where the focus is on combat. This is truth. Now, perhaps--in the opinion of some people--some other version of D&D, or some other RPG entirely...

    Desert Moon Dancer question

Maybe what happened is that I searched for feats in the Compendium, and Desert Moon Dancer came up---with no indication that it was playtest material, or unfinished, or full of errors, or whatever. You have to figure that if something is in the Compendium, someone expected it to be used, no?

    Desert Moon Dancer question

Thanks for the link! But now I'm even more confused. The MP2 preview lists the same associated powers as the compendium--Footwork Lure, Positioning Strike, and Inspiring Strike. So thats a lvl 1 At-Will, a lvl 1 Encounter, and a...lvl 13 Encounter? Maybe there are two Inspiring Strike...

    Desert Moon Dancer question

In the description of Desert Moon Dancer in the Compendium, it states that when you you hit an enemy "with an at-will power associated with this feat while wielding any heavy blade" you get bonuses. But of the associated powers listed, only one of the three is actually an At-Will. Does that...

How Can You Politely Say, "Your Character Sucks?"

Wow. If I'd known how dangerous not having a 18 in a prime stat would be.... Of course, if the player made a mistake and/or isn't having fun, the 14 INT is a problem--for the DM. As to a character not pulling its weight because it hits 4 times out of 10 as opposed to 5? Hogwash. Here's the...

    Pathfinder 1E Opinions on Pathfinder

So, if a 4e monster power targets Will, Reflex or Fortitude, you could just have the target save vs the attack? With the DC as the "to hit" roll maybe? And what if the hit causes conditions--4e conditions are very different that 3.5 or PF. I'm not convinced "compatible" would be the correct...

    Pathfinder 1E Opinions on Pathfinder

I don't mean to be argumentative, but I don't see your point: How are 4e monsters compatible with Pathfinder without a complete rehaul and different mechanics, (as compared to the minor changes needed going from 3.5 to PF). Also, how is the 3.5 rogue not compatible with the Pathfinder Fighter?

    Please define 'swingy'

Swingy combats are more likely in games where there are opportunities to do huge amounts of damage or completely incapacitate enemies with one action. The amount of swinginess in any system can be increased or decreased with a few simple adjustments: Too swingy? For casters, add casting time...

    Why the need for confession?

Interesting how two folks can read the same text and come away with completely different flavor. Sometimes someone can dislike something without thinking its badwrong. I don't like eggplant, but I make no judgments about people who love it, and I will happily sit with someone tucking into a...

Some interesting insight from Mark Rosewater (Magic's Head Designer)

I'm not saying that you're wrong, but I've played every edition except for the OD&D box, and this has absolutely *not* been my experience. I currently play Pathfinder and 4e, (and prefer Pathfinder), but in spite of all of the changes in 4e, it still retains a lot of what makes D&D...

Removing the link between class and ability

I like the idea of charismatic fighters, and intelligent rogues, but I wouldn't like or use anything that changes or gimps the core abilities. However, if every class power list included powers for each ability score, that would loosen things up quite a bit. Ideally, you could create a fighter...

    A 4e "fix" book...

I'd like to see alternate rules for martial characters to make them less vancian. For instance, Fighters could use their Encounter powers as often as they want, but each successive use in the same encounter would be at -2, then -4, then -6, etc. Dailies could be reused as well, but at -4, -8...

3E & 4E Love and Hate Polls - What does it mean?

Not to mention the fact that many 3e players have played 4e, and like 4e but like 3e better, which would skew the 4e poll, as well. Wait...what?

3E & 4E Love and Hate Polls - What does it mean?

First of all, disliking 4e does not equate to running down WotC. I play Pathfinder and 4e, and I just don't like the way 4e plays. That doesn't mean WotC is a bad company, and I'm not judging anyone who likes it--diff'rent strokes, and all. Second, you see how your last statement is merely...

    An Indecent Proposal

Nothing in your post, or in my experience with playing 4e over the past year, supports your assertion that 3.5 was cumbersome and 4e is easier. Tracking modifiers in 4e is just as cumbersome as ever, partly because they change from round to round and most only last a single round. And since...
