    E6: The Game Inside D&D

Right here! That's the approach I'm taking. The cap represents that a Hero is a Hero with varying degress of ability between them, as opposed to earth-shattering power or invulnerability (human with more HP than 6 warhorses, for example). Most towns don't actually have heroes protecting them...

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

In reference to skill beyond your years, it would allow greater dragonmarks as well as a lot of skill based feats.

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

BTW, A player in my campaign has brought it to my attention that a lot of feats have prerequisite: X skill 12 ranks. If Skill Beyond Your Years could be bumped up to character level +6, then a lot of new options could be explored.

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

I'm currently running an E6 game. My players said it sounded like a fun variant, and I was intrigued with the idea. Despite that, there have been a few snags. Spells of level 4 or higher are sorely missed, and I do pine to make use of the hundreds of prestige classes I've accumulated. Also...

E6: The Game Inside D&D (with PDFs!)

These are valid concerns, ones that I can't actually fix without tacking on more rules. In order to make metamagic more accessible, I'm thinking about this: Action Points are tied to CHA (4+1/2 Char. Level+ Cha modifier). Action points refresh every level and at every 5000 XP after level 6...

E6: The Game Inside D&D (with PDFs!)

Thanks for your quick replies (they are useful as session 2 of the campaign commences in about 4 hours). Also, I asked this a while back and it got lost in the shuffle of other questions, but how does everyone feel about rewiring Metamagic feats so that they become a function of Action Points...

E6: The Game Inside D&D (with PDFs!)

Personally, I like the other version too, but I'm running E6 on Eberron and have a group which would buckle under the added stress of more complicated feats. A question for RyCanada: As I have just started running an E6 Eberron game, I'm most inerested in whether or not you plan on using the...

    New feats (considered for E6)

I'm really not sure if it's okay to create E6 accessible versions of higher level feats. Seems to me that once you embark on that road, you need to offer low level versions of high-level spells too, which is problematic. For my part, I've realized that a casualty of this system is metamagic...

    New feats (considered for E6)

Dominate is a tough one. Personally, I think the combination of Suggestion and Charm Person is solid enough to cover the iconic mind-control abilities of spellcasters. However, if you absolutely must, I would lower the duration to 1 round/level or even just 1 round. An EXP component (EDIT...

    New feats (considered for E6)

Here's what I plan on using Expanded Knowledge Prerequisite: Character Level 6th Benefit: Choose a spellcasting class in which you have levels. You gain an additional spell known at any level you can cast from that class's spell list. Expanded Ability Prerequisite: Character Level 6th Benefit...

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

I don't think we've anything to gain by analyzing the perceived weakness of the fighter in this context. I also find it a tough pill to swallow, considering last summer I had a Spiked-Chain fighter in my group that made the Cleric complain about power levels.

    New feats (considered for E6)

Some of these feats look pretty good. I like the one for restoration, and think Incantations should be the basis for advanced summonings, undead creation, construct creation, ect., but ... isn't this format about simplicity? It seems that once a DM starts moving toward more than two iterative...

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

To be honest I'm glad you don't feel like I overstepped my bounds, and to clarify, I think that "epic" play and this method go in two opposite directions. By definition, epic play never really ends. It goes and goes without regard for the imbalances in the system, patching where needed. E6...

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

I don't know if I'll ever play this method of D&D, but it seems like the low level cap is the strength of the venture; if one attempts to remove or lessen it then they may as well be playing regular D&D. Actually, it feels like a half-assed compromise between the two. You should either be cool...

    OotS 448

I'm confused by the fact that everybody seems to expect a better showing from the Sapphire Guard when 2things have already been established that would seem to prohibit this. 1) They're not terribly creative, as shown in the previous strips dealing with Three Xykons. Armed with his fiendish...

    OotS 448

I get the feeling that people didn't like this one because it was vaguely disturbing, whereas most OotS are light-hearted and fun. If you feel cheated, you probably were, but then again, what else would you expect from a villain? Personally, I love this strip. Initially I felt very strongly...

Interview with Scott Rouse, Chris Perkins & Bill Slavicsek

I was not, nor ever have been a subscriber. I preferred to buy from my FLGS. I would walk for the following reasons. 1. There's a lot of awesome web material already available for free the usually surpasses or meets Dragon Magazine. Asking fans to pay when equivalent material is already being...

Interview with Scott Rouse, Chris Perkins & Bill Slavicsek

Pricing I have serious issues with their ambiguity regarding pricing. More than 5 years ago WotC shut down their Magic magazine, the Duelist, and promptly revamped their website so that it puts out 2 or 3 professional quality articles every day. Knowing this, I was overjoyed to hear that...
