D&D General How do players feel about DM fudging?

You didn't let the player know it's a game where death is on the table? You didn't create backup characters for if his character died? You didn't rule death off the table or come up with another consequence for losing so he gets to keep playing that character? I don't even see where fudging...

Spelljammer Spelljammer Confirmed (MAYBE, April Fools?)

April Fool's sucks anyways, everyone's already expecting a prank so any news is already treated with the skepticism and annoyance it deserves

    D&D 5E (2014) Toward a new D&D aesthetics

It's a discussion forum. Where people discuss things. And make claims. And if you make claims, it's commonly understand that you usually have to put forth some evidence so people can be on the same page and further the discussion.

    D&D 5E (2014) Toward a new D&D aesthetics

Still haven't really provided any good examples of it, though, whereas others have provided lots of examples to argue otherwise. I think it's just that the edition is leaning more towards "heroic fantasy", where you have depictions of brave, outgoing heroes going up against great danger with...

D&D General How has D&D changed over the decades?

I wouldn't mind playing in a mostly serious game at least once. As in, taking the NPCs and settings seriously. There's plenty of serious stuff that is naughty word hilarious though, like the Sopranos.

D&D General How has D&D changed over the decades?

Yeah, I'll stick to my "not all Hit Points are equal" thing, I think. Feels easier to wrap my head around, somehow.

D&D General How has D&D changed over the decades?

Yeah. I'm firmly of the mindset that not every hit point and attack is equal, personally. That's just how I cope with the odd little nature of HP in relation to the game's "reality" though.

HP isn't wholly "not wounds" either. It's meant to be whatever the DM deems them to be, though there's the common explanation of "a combination of wounds, luck, stamina, and other things (even if it's made weird that that's the explanation considering you can apparently heal Luck using Cure Wounds).

D&D 5E (2014) Buying Your Spellbook? (Quick Poll)

I imagine that description comes in handy for if you happen to lose your spellbook somehow, but most PC wizards are probably prepared enough to start the game with a spellbook in hand.

D&D General How has D&D changed over the decades?

That's a terribly negative way to misrepresent both sides. A lot of the "old school" doesn't find rolling up characters to be unfair or a hassle, while the "new school" just wants to be able to have more agency in the char creation process. Nothing wrong with either of those preferences, the...

D&D General How has D&D changed over the decades?

Ngl, even as someone that likes rolling 3d6 in my games, I wouldn't play with anyone that doesn't enjoy that either. Just seems like it should be a priority to try and cultivate the table you want to play in/GM in, as well as something that should be covered in a sesh 0.

D&D 5E (2014) What do you think should be done with alignment?

I like to remove Good and Evil from it all, because then you get Morality instead of Alignment. For my personal settings, I'd just use Law - Balance - Chaos and then most beings unaffiliated with the Great Cosmic Struggle are Unaligned. The universe is but a playground formed from the Cosmic...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is D&D 90% Combat?

Doesn't have to end with character death if the system isn't going for that. And like I mentioned, combat can be something which a system doesn't encourage players to do, so those odds are there as a deterrent.
